This is a newbie question that I hope the moderators don't mind me posting to this forum.
I've got the DVD player connected to the TV through a regular pair of 2ch. stereo cables. The audio settings are set accordingly: 2ch. output, DTS downmix to stereo etc.
Either the TV and the DVD player can emulate surround sound.
I suspect only one of both should be set to emulate surround sound rather than both altogether.
My findings are that the TV emulates richer surround sound.
My questions are:
1. Should only one of them be set to emulate surround instead of both altogether?
2. Should I trust my judgement that the TV emulates surround sound better or the DVD can do that better for sure?
3. How is the output through the pair of stereo cables when the soundtrack hasn't been downmixed to stereo (DTS) like 5.1 Dolby etc? Does the TV get all the information it needs to emulate surround sound from just a pair of stereo inputs?
Thanks a lot for your time!
