Hi,
I was wondering... is there a hardware DivX player that can open subtitles that are not burned on the same media as the AVI file? I mean, can I pop-in a disc with the movie file, switch it for a rewritable with subs, open the subs, then put the movie disc back in?

You can do that with Philips DVP630. Should work with DVP642 too. I haven't tested with subtitles files on multi-session disc though. But no problem with single-session disc. Text-based subtitles only I guess as the firmware hasn't supported picture-based subtitles (yet).

[Edit: ESS Vibratto II... ach, crivens! But DVP5100/05 looks promising. I think I'll go with that one and pray that Philips guys didn't drop that feature.]
