I found something interesting with Frank Miller's Sin City-Region 1. It has two menu VOBs that cannot be played and one of them is a half a GB.

VTS_01_0.VOB is a preview trailer of a up and coming movie called Zu Warriors. This had audio. I say this can't been accessable because of it's PGC pre commands. Note the Jump to VMGM PGC 6 pre command. The trailer will never gets played because it jumps to VMGM PGC 6 prior to so the navigation has been detoured.

The same goes for VTS_02_0.VOB which is exactly the same PGC Command table as above. This VOB contained two parts. The first clip being a full anime episode of Natsuhiko Kyogoku's Requiem from the Darkness Vol. 1: Turmoil of the Flesh. It was episode 4 and titled Dancing Head. Anyways, this anime episode didn't have audio so that sucks. The second part is a trailer promoting Lost Vol.1. This one had audio. I previewed both menu VOBs directly with PowerDVD.

The two menu VOBs are not considered unreferenced materials because they are called from another PGC(s). It's just that their pre command 2 prevents you from seeing them. PgcEdit and DVD Shrink also shows them as referenced.

Anyways, just wanted to provided a tip for people doing R1 that you can get rid of more unwanted video contents by blanking these menus. Maybe they are unintentional leftovers or intentional easter eggs. Who knows? I Just wanted to document this finding. ;)

I've already seen a large part of an old Charlie Chaplin in a totally different DVD. It has no sound, and was also not reachable.

IMHO, these are authoring errors, since an easter egg is reachable, although not easily. The presence of the jump in the pre-commands seems to indicate that the PGC should be a dummy.

I tried to blank VTS_02 in VobBlanker 2.0.0.2 but it only reduces it from 847MB to 524MB. What's up with that?

Sorry if it's an obvious question, but did you blank both the menu and the title in VobBlanker? Sounds like you may only have blanked the title.

Select the Titleset in the top section and press the menu button to open a window to allow blanking of the menu.

That worked. Thanks for the tip. I didn't think of blanking the menu since there is no menu associated with this title. . . . ;-)

Or just hit Ctrl-Del in PgcEdit and it will offer you the chance to remove the whole menu VOB and all references to it.
