Framerate conversion: 23.976/29.97 to PAL

I'm creating a PAL DVD. My source video files are progressive, mostly at 23.976fps, but one or two at 29.97fps. What would be the best way to convert these to 25fps interlaced PAL using AviSynth? I don't want to go the speedup route. Frame blending won't bother me as long as the motion looks smooth.

Thanks for the tip on DGPulldown, I'll look into that. But if I'm right, it does a "soft" interlace on the source. Wouldn't it be safer to make the stream "truly" interlaced to avoid possible playback problems on some DVD players? (Sorry, I'm not good with the terms.)
