iuVCR - Video Tap disappeared

Morning!

I wanted to capture some old vhs tapes before heading to work and now I realize that the video tab has disappeared in iuVCR. Everything else looks just like it used to but theres no Video Tab. I am able to capture video right now but only with default settings (because I tried unistalling and reinstalling iuvcr, didnt help). Anybody know what the problem here is?

Guessing, really...

If prob is iuVCR, then might have to uninstall removing reg entries, ini files etc betfore re-install. If prob isn't iuVCR, does everything show up as it used to in Device Mgr? Have you lost video device in other apps? Very big guess, have you done anything that might effect fonts or display size of fonts?

That also happened to me with an older version of IuVCR. I think it had something to do with trial version expiry. You can delete the registry key and the tab will show again.

I AM using and older veriosn of iuvcr (4.9.4.361) so maybe there is a problem with it (although it used to work fine)

I jsut unistalled it, searched the entire registry for iuvcr and delted every key and reinstalled but the problem is the same. It doesnt really make sense to me, specially seince I AM able to record, so the devices should be working?!

try seraching for ivus or something with iv* in HKLM/software or HKCU/software

There was only one file left and after having deleted it, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again but it didnt help. I think I have to stick with VirtualVCR. Thanks for your help!

the key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ivus\iuVCR\4.X
you don't have to delete any file or uninstall, just delete the reg key (it will delte de channeles also)

For what it's worth, I have seen the same thing happen. A friend and I were running some time lapse photography from before dawn to dusk... it was a pinch for hard disk space and the timed recording software wasn't working correctly, so we got up at 4 a.m. to start it. We couldn't switch on the lights because it interfered with the shot, so the (rather large) room we were working in was only illuminated by the monitor; the wind was howling through the room and the curtains were billowing... in short it was really quite spooky... and then the video tab disappeared.

I think it came back the next morning...

None of that is very concretely helpful, but I think it might have something to do with registration keys, etc. It may be that its stores a key surreptitiously somewhere in order to defeat attempts at circumventing registration. I think there are programs that monitor every registry access, file access, etc; you could try these if you want to go to that much trouble. Also perhaps worth upgrading to the latest version if you haven't?

P.S.: BUT,
imho, VirtualVCR is better, less buggy and a bit faster.
