I would like to edit some of my older home movies that I have on DVD and would like to use Studio Version 9 to do my editing. Whar would be the best program that could read the dvd and let me open and edit it with studio version 9?

One possible approach is to rip the VOBs using DVD Decrypter, and then use DGMPGDec (together with AVISynth) to serve the audio and video.

I would rip the dvd to one vob file. everybody has their preferences I just like working with one file. IMO less chance of getting audio/video sync issues etc

IMO less chance of getting audio/video sync issues etc What is the technical basis for your opinion that using multiple VOBs with DGMPGDec can cause sync problems? VOBs are seamlessly joined during processing in DGMPGDec.

I might have misunderstood what he actually wanted to do. He stated he wanted to use Studio version 9. I was assuming he meant Ulead video studio 9 (newest version) to edit then convert the result/s to avi. He could load the vob into Ulead to do the editing, then convert with his program of choice. If I misinterpreted the original question I apologize for any confusion this may have caused musicman125 and yourself.

Can you tell me how I can do this? What programs could I use to rip the dvd and put in one file?

I guess I should read some more. I can rip the dvd with dvd decrypter and after that I do not know how to serve the video using DGMPGDec and AVISynth? DGMPGDec comes with a Quick Start guide that even my human can understand.
