Stupid question (probably) about x264

I was messing with nero recode 2 and noticed theres 2 types, ie non-avc and avc profiles, how do i make it so x264 is SP or ASP, im trying to do HDTV encodes but my pc isnt powerful enough to decode 720p AVC.

h264 = AVC, x264 is therefor too. No x264 ASP available... you could use XviD though...

Why does Nero Recode have 2 profiles then, HDTV and HDTV AVC?

It doesnt only have 2 profiles, it also has 2 codecs: one based on MPEG4 ASP and one based on H264.
