Maybe this is old news, maybe not.
As a general rule, I'll load a DVD into DVD Shrink v3.2 to survey its contents and determine my backup strategy.
I've been seeing unreferenced material lately that doesn't get reported by DVD Shrink, not even after a full Analysis. I see it mostly in Menus (e.g., Touching The Void, Hostage), but I caught one in a non-Menu today, for Undertow, R1.
In V01, there's one title for the trailer, it's PGC comprised of VobIDs 1,2. There's a third VobID (3) in VTS_01_1.VOB which isn't referenced or acknowledged anywhere in the .IFO. It looks like some rough footage for the trailer, times 2.
There's more material of this type in other titlesets (V05, V08), but not as significant as what I find in V01 (146MB worth).
Does anyone know if there's a utility or function that would highlight this kind of anomaly in a DVD? I missed it on a run through DVD-RB and would rather recapture space like this than give it up to unreferenced garbage. I'm guessing the utility would have to fully scan the DVD to detect it.

Some pointers:
1) DVD Shrink will strip this kind of material, just run a DVD of this kind through at "No Compression", your target VOBs will be written without it.
2) Unreferenced Material of this type in Menus is easy to detect. Load a DVD into DVD Shrink and compare the reported size for the Menus to the sum of the file sizes for VIDEO_TS.VOB, VTS_*_0.VOB.
3) IfoEdit can strip this type of material as well, you just won't see these "Ghost VobIDs" enumerated when using the "VOB Extras, Strip VobID's" function.
