Problems with IFOedit

Hi,

I've ripped a DVD5 using dvddecrypter 3.5.3.0. After that I've did a GET VTS Sectors in IFOedit 0.97.1, I got some messages about corrections. Did another try and got no messages then.

I've burnt the DVD, tried it on my PC using both powerdvd and windvd, was working like a charm.
Tried it on my standalone (LG) and played good at first, when I choose play movie from the menu it starts a commercial, after which it should start with the main movie. But there it goes wrong, on my standalone it keeps on repeating that commercial over and over again (not on my pc). When I push the next title button on the remote it goes to the main movie and everything is fine again.

Then I tried to do a delete playback on the commercial in IFOedit, burnt the disc again.
Tried it on my PC using both powerdvd and windvd, was working perfect.
Tried it on my standalone again, and now it gets really weird. It plays the commercial first (no sound), then starts with the main movie (with sound) :confused:

Why are the changes made in IFOedit not showing on my standalone but only on my PC ?

Strange. After a rip with DVDD, the VTS pointers should be already correct. Have you made something to the DVD before the Get VTS Sectors? Or are there some empty VOBs (0 bytes long) in the DVD?

Try to fix the VTS sector pointers with PgcEdit. Just load the DVD and save it: the VTS sectors pointers are calculated and fixed when the DVD is saved. Also, if there are some empty VOBs, PgcEdit will offer to remove them when loading the DVD. Answer yes. But don't remove these empty VOBs manually.

If things are still wrong, then the problem doesn't come from the VTS sector pointers.

I didn't do any processing on the DVD after ripping it with DVDD, also there are no empty VOBs in the DVD.

I'll try to fix it with PGCedit and see what it does then.

Loading the VIDEO_TS folder in PGCedit after GET VTS Sectors in ifoedit and creating an iso in pgcedit did the trick.
Now the commercial plays, followed by the main movie.

I guess either DVDD or ifoedit creates an incorrect pointer or doesn't fix an incorrect pointer. But PGCedit can see it :D

Hmm, i just checked the working video_ts folder in ifoedit and when I press the GET VTS sectors button I get a lot of messages again.

Is that normal ?

I'll try burning the resulting dvd files after this get vts sectors and see if it's still working on my standalone player.

Is that normal ?PgcEdit uses a different method if the "When saving, leave at least 32K of space between IFO and BUP" option is checked. If this option is not checked, IfoEdit and PgcEdit should give the same result. But perhaps there is a bug in IfoEdit? I know there is a problem with IfoEdit's Get VTS Sectors when there are empty VOBs present. But it's not your case.

BTW, which program did you use the first time to burn the DVD? Nero?

Used both DVDDecrypter and Nero with the same result.

I don't think I checked that option in pgcedit since i didn't knew what is was for.
But still ifoedit corrected things, when I tried the version after ifoedit, pgcedit, ifoedit, it also worked perfect.

Really don't know what caused so much trouble on this DVD5 (which normally aren't hard at all), but it works now.
