first let me say that i'm a quality freak, i give up just about everything and anything order to get the best quality possible; so i always use RB main movie-only and only one english, nothing else (the movie in english) but, when setting RB to keep only english, i also get the director's comments and a second or/and third english audio. how can i avoid this? would checking remove director's comments on the RB settings take care at least of the director's comments? what about the rest of the unwanted english audios?
thanks.

i always do, i only leave english audio uncheck but, it picks up all english audios. it picks up second and third english audios and director's comments which ia also in english.
see my point, i think that as long as they are in english, RB picks up all the english audios.

When DVD-RB is removing the audio, it does so by stream ID... at that point it can't even tell if the kept/removed stream is one language or another -- that information is just gathered from the IFO file so you can make the choices as to what should be kept.
If you have a stream unchecked it is not included in the output.

OK. In the setup screen, leave only English audio. Remove the Director's Comments from the setup as well. However, if there is more than one English track (for example, a 2CH track) you will have to manually remove it from the Input Source screen (or just uncheck them, if using the old skins) This process will leave only 1 English track.
jdobbs, would it be possible to add an option to leave only the main 6 CH English audio? It would be a nice feature.....

now we are talking, one question; in the input source screen, is it easy to tell which audio is which? don't want to uncheck the one i want(main 6 ch english audio) thanks your answer really helped.

No please, If I have the room on the disk (not a really big movie like LOTR) I always include the 2 channel AC3.
I can hear the spoken audio better. (Not talking about the DC).
My wife says I am going deaf ;) I don't think so.
Selective hearing maybe.
Anyway, with all the special effects of Some movies I just hear the spoken word better when I keep both the 2 and 6 channel audio.
I wonder if they just Master the Audio that way?
Regards,:)
P.S. If you don't need the 2 AC3 it is not that much effort to just untick it IMO.

I've noticed it too. It seems the dynamic range on the 5.1 is wider -- so the low sounds are really low -- so you turn up the volume enough to hear the conversations only to have it knock you over when an explosion happens.

That's it exactly!
Now if you could fix that problem maybe I wouldn't be well... reminded to turn the volume down.http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_57.gif

P.S. I have actually thought of adding a compressor/limiter to keep from being knocked over with the explosions while still having the volume up enough to hear the conversations.

i find a receiver with adjustable volume per speaker works well. set all your levels the same based on your speaker distance, then turn the center channel up significantly. Dialogue will really pop

@All
You may want to check out the factory menu on your set top player. Many of mine have had the option to increase the volume of only the center channel -- or at the very least, offer different mixes that bring the vocals to the forefront. I believe (although I'm not 100% on this) that some recievers allow for this, as well.
