Hi guys. I just got this and am backing it up right now. The each DVD is about 2 and a half hours long. Thing is when I load DVD-Rebuilder it shows that the avg bit rate is 3.3 (that is the avg bit rate it tells me. Is this the bitrate of the original DVD or the resulting compressed one?) which I guess isnt so bad for a 36" SDTV, because I have seen DVDs encoded with this bit rate and you can hardly notice any blotchiness. But the thing is with 24 on some dark scenes they are horrible, you can see crazy pixelation everywhere. Is this normal? I have to admit though that I was using an older version of Rebuilder V.63.. never had a problem with it before so didn't think I was going to now. Could it be because it is an episodic DVD or something???
Also I just realized after watching the backed up DVDs that all of them play fine except Disc 4. It just seems to freeze about 3 minutes in... The sound keeps going but the picture is frozen... If I skip to 10 minutes in it plays fine. Any idea what could have caused this? Would upgrading to .93 fix this problem? Thanks everyone for your time and help.

Well, I recently encoded the second disc to 24 Season 1. I encoded it with one of the release candidates with CCE 2.70 at 6 passes . The quality to me seems fine in dark areas. I don't think any of mine freeze 3 minutes in. One thing I did do which was pretty stupid, was on Season 3 of 24, on two of the discs I encoded them with Steal Space From Extras on. It was set to either 25 or 50% which made every episode but the first one look pretty bad. Luckily, I only did two discs with that setting on before realizing what I had done. Looking at Season 1 now, I don't think the steal space would affect it since there is only one VTS which includes 4 episodes which should be considered the main movie. Other than that, I have no idea what would cause it to bad pixelation in dark scenes. Well good luck.

Hi, I recently did some investigation about episodic DVDs and found out that CCE is not so good for encoding interlaced material. You should use Canopus Procoder 2.0. Also, you can use Undot() as AVI filter but do not use anything else unless you unfold the fields before applying those filters and refold when you are finished...

guys I have no iea how to use thsoe filters or procoder with DVD-RB. I actuall yhave procoder 2.0 but can any1 please help me out how to set it up with Rebuilder?Download EclPRO and unzip it in a dir (you could use the same rebuilder dir).
Launch EclPRO, and find the path of procoder 2.0 (usually in c:\program files\canpus\procoder2)
Then in DVD-RB, in the Options->setup window, select the path of EclPRO.
Select as Mode -> Procoder(EclPRO) mode, and you're ready to backup.
If you're using DVD-RB free, you could try the Rockas installer, which should automatize these steps.

ProCoder does always 2 passes.
It is slower than CCE (I think in Mastering quality it's about equivalent to CCE 4 passes)

cool thanks a lot. Is there any way to adjust the quality on it though? Or does it always have the best quality setting?

ALso quick question sorry. It seems like procoder is the best when it comes to interlaced material. But eh question... How can I find out whether or not the material is interlaced?
