Repair an AVI +2GB

Hi, this is my first post here, so I hope it's in the good forum.

I'm encoding some old VHS video's which my father recorded when I was a kid. But because the camera moves a lot, it's quiet difficult to have a good result at a low bitrate. So, now I'm encoding a 3 hour VHS to a 4,37GB XviD to fit on a DVD (3300 kbps). I run an AVISynth script which contains Smooth Deinterlacer and Pixiedust. Because that's a hard job for my PC, it takes +/- 5 days to encode 1 video. Last week, it was almost finished (99% done) when my PC crashed. I have a big file (+5 GB because the audio is not compressed yet) but I can't play it. When I open it with VirtualDub, VD makes the Index but it recognizes no keyframes. I tried to open it with the option 're-derive keyframe flags', but that didn't help. Then I tried a lot of AVI Repair programs like Repairvideo, but that can only recover +/- 45 minutes because this kind of programs can't repair +2GB AVI's?

Edit: I used VirtualDub 1.6.9 and XviD 1.1.0 Beta 2, opening an AVISynth 2.0 script.

well the encoding wasn't finished, provided you used two pass, you could use the old log files should;ve bee nwriten to redo it, but even if you fix it you'll have to encode that last part you missed, and sadly, I have no idea what program could help you if any

Did you try DivFix? (don't know if it support 2GB+, but...)

Yp, I tried DivFix, but that has no support for 2GB+ :(

Btw, it was 1 pass (because the video's contain some blue flashing frames which would take to much bytes when encoded in 2 pass).

and one pass doesn't take up more space?
anyways. if you have the incomplte fist pass you could cut out the complete part and use that for re-pass, and ad on the last little bit with some creative cutting
