Whenever I make a dvd with dvd maestro, it will for some reason create empty audio and subtitle tracks that arent used. For example I am only using two audio files and one subtitle file for my dvd, but when I playback the compiled dvd it lists 8 different audio tracks, and 32 different subtitle tracks. And only the first two audios and first subtitle work, which makes sense because those are the only ones that actually have data. Is there any way to stop maestro from creating these useless subtitle and audio selections? Also it only does this for the first title, if I have more than one title in maestro the first one will only have this problem.

Yeah I'd like to know why it does that too... I've seen before an wondered how to solve it...

I think many bad dvd authoring software has that problem, e.g. DVD-lab pro
If u wanna solve the problem, either open the authored dvd in PGC Edit or Ifoedit to strip those empty tracks. Or... the simplest way, stop using other dvd authoring software, use sonic scenarist which is 99.9% close to the dvd specifications.

You can work around this by making a playlist for your movie, and editing the playlist's properties. There you can disable the unused streams. I don't know any other way to do it in Maestro.

Hmmm interesting. I'll check it out...

I love the old, just use Scenarist comments. I agree but it often doesn't help a DVDLab user or Maestro user...

:thanks:

I've tried almost every dvd authoring program you can think of and none of them so far have satisfied me enough to buy them. Right now i'm also trying scenarist but it is so confusing that I probably wont be able to make my first dvd for about another year . And with maestro i'm going to try what you guys suggested and see if it works, thanks.

I usually run it through DVDShrink with zero compression and uncheck all the empty tracks. Seems to do the trick.

EDIT: I stopped doing this time consuming method and started using 2COOL's IFOedit method: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60444

Basically you just need to change the number of audio/subtitle streams in VIDEO_TS.IFO > VMG_VTS_ATRT, VTS_1 (VTSTT_VOBs) to the correct number. Then do the same in VTS_01_0.IFO > VTSI_MAT.
