View Full Version : Ulead MovieFactory 3 problems with m2v files

Hi. Using TMPGEnc Plus I have converted a 97 minute long 20gb .avi file (made in Adobe Premiere 6.0) into a 2.7gb m2v file and a 1gb .WAV file.

Now of course I want to create a DVD with this video.

I have Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 which as many people probably know, is very simple. However, when I add the 2.7gb m2v file to the project it tells me that it is in fact over 7gb big.

I also have the problem of adding the WAV file to the project to give it sound.

Please can anyone with necessary experience tell me:

1) Why does MovieFactory read the file as being over twice as big as it actually is?
2) Is it possible for it to read the m2v file as the size it really is and not have to alter it in any way?
3) Have I simply got too basic a DVD authoring program?
4) If so, what would anyone recommend for me to make my m2v file and WAV file into a kick ass DVD?

I'm slowly getting there in my complicated and frustrating quest to create a single working DVD but it seems I am being tripped up every step of the way. All help is much appreciated, thanks in advance :)

I'm a little rusty with moviefactory but what it's doing is re-encoding your clip, not incorrectly reading it. To prevent the re-encoding you have to go into your project settings/preferences and change them to that of the 2.7gb file created with tmpgenc.
.
Lets say the average bitrate of your file is 3000, moviefactory might be set at a bitrate of 7500, and that is why your seeing a 7gb file size. Same goes for your audio, you need to know what the default settings are.
.
Do a search for moviefactory (ulead) in the forum it's been discussed before. You might also want to look into DVD-Lab or Tmpgenc DVD Author (TDA) instead of ulead.
.
NOTE: If your files are dvd ready all you need is an authoring program like the ones I mentioned. They won't touch the video. They'll take your audio and video and create (author) a dvd structure.

Thanks, man. I've downloaded a free trial of TMPGEnc DVD Author and it seems to be working a treat :)
