I recently tried to make a backup of "Unforgiven" The disk is 2 sided (One side WS, the other full screen). I only wanted the full screen so I ripped it to an ISO using DVD Decrypter. I know I wont gain any quality from removing some of the extras, but I would still like to blank out some of the FBI warnings and movie previews. Can I still use DVD-RB to do this before I burn the DVD or will I suffer some loss through encoding? What suggestions would you give me?

Suggestion #1: Keep the widescreen version. :)
DVD-RB could do this, but I would not recommend it. For DVD-RB to do it would mean re-encoding the entire DVD, which would mean a lose in quality. This DVD in perticular is a very poor transfer, which means an even greater drop in quality as the encoder tries to capture all the "details" of the noise, grain and artifacts in the original source.
Instead you should use a tool to delete or bypass only the things you want to removed. PGCEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) will 'kill' items (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/2cool/kill_playback/kill_playback_titles.htm) so they are skipped during playback, but are still on the disc. VOBblanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) will strip the item entirely, though it requires more processing than just killing playback.
If you need additional help with those tools search the IFO/VOB Editing forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=50) and post a there if you can't find the answer.

Choose the "No Compression" option. You should realize that you will have to do Main Movie only. It is impossible to blank out the FBI warning with DVD-RB with any other option, since it is a single frame. Movie previews will be blanked however.
jdobbs, why can't single frames be blanked?

Doh, I forgot about that option. Still, I would recommend PGCEdit unless you are adverse to learning a new tool. It would be quicker, require less disc space and reduce the risk of encountering a problem, because by it's nature it is a simpler operation with PGCEdit.

I too recommend PGCedit for this type of thing

Cool. Thanks for the help. PCGEdit worked just fine and was quite easy to use. And yeah wmansir Unforgiven is a pretty cruddy DVD as far as quality goes. :)

DVDRemakePro is another GREAT option and probably "easier" to some than PGCEDIT.
