When do you think x264 will be fully future compatible?

I've been holding off many of my encodes since I don't know
if I'll be able to play them in the future when new versions
of x264 are released...

What do you guys think?

Edit: Someone's probably going to say, "when it's ready," but
I was hoping for something like end of summer, end of year, etc...

Imo it's already "future-proof", and was that since long ago, as i'm still able to play back my x264 encodes i made more than a year ago without any problems. Of course there is always a slight chance for some bug which can cause compatibility problems, but that chance is no bigger than it was in the case of xvid.
