After much searching, I haven't found a documented process or guide for creating a DVD with 5.1 AC3 audio from a DVB transport stream, which was broadcast in Dolby 5.1 Surround. Here are the steps I've taken and the result of each:
1- Captured .ts file from Moto DVR
2- DGIndex to create D2v, and AC3 (note MediaInfo reports that AC3 file is 5.1
At this point I can successfully encode a DVD compliant MPEG-2 by:
- Use Besweet to create a stereo WAV file
- Then using Avisynth--->Quenc
But of course this only produces a stereo (2ch) DVD
Quenc will accept and encode the AC3 5.1 file when interleaved via Avisynth, but the channels seem to get mixed down to 1.
I guess my question is: with a DVD compliant MPEG video file and an AC3 5.1 file...is there a reasonably priced way to encode to a file (VOB?) that will result in a DVD with 5.1 surround?
I'm probably not asking the right question, but perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. PJ
