soz if there is another post about this
i converted files (avi to dvd with winavi converter) and then burned them to a dvd but the sound and the picture arenty in the same place
and i dont no if the problem is because of the source file (before converting) or because of convertin (but i have converted other file no prob) or because of burning with nero
is there any way to fix this or to find out were the problem came from

You need to play each file you created and see where you lost sync. How it is fixed depends on where sync was lost. In other words, if the problem arose during encoding, it would require a different solution than if it arose during authoring or burning.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm how do i do that

Well, to play the original file, in Windows XP you would double-click on it and Windows Media Player (for example) would play it. If that is OK, then go to the file you encoded using WinAVI Video Converter and play that. If you have any other "intermediate" files (such as you created by doing postprocessing), play them as well. Somewhere along the line you should discover where you lost the sync.

i got rid of the source file the avi one and only have the converted one but the audio stops about 30secs in and then the video froze and the sound and video start again but the sound is behind

OK. It looks like you had a problem with the encode. Knowing that helps. (Of course, if you no longer have the source file, it is possible that the source file also had the problem, which would change things somewhat.)

Do you think that is that the only place it hung? If so, it might be possible to fix it by splitting the file at the hang and then synching the out of sync portion using the method outlined here:
http://www.rita.lt/video_tools/help/outofsync.htm

If there are other "hangs," you would have to locate each one and fix it. As you can see, this would become very labor intensive if there are more than one or two. In that case, you might need to get the source again and re-encode.
