Nero Digital AVC settings

Hi, I already encoded with Nero AVC some movies, but I was wondering wich are the best settings. I don't care about the encoding speed.....
I always used for a DVD movie, 720x576 ( PAL ) this settings:

- I kept the original resolution
- Standard AVC, 800 kbit:
- 2 pass encoding
- Decision Quality: High Quality
- GOP 1/300/1
- Encoding Tools, All Flagged
- Chroma Optimization
- Psycho-visual, HIGH

Is it ok the bitrate or is to low? Do I have to change the profile or some settings?

Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!

Ok, sorry about that.
I would like to know if at that bitrate the Nero AVC coded is ok...... or do I have to use higher bitrares.....

well, try and have a look at the result ;) Different people have different quality needs, and different sources may require different bitrates to reach the same subjective visual quality.

- Cinema AVC
- Standard AVC

etc....

those profiles are there for one purpose only: restricting features (and thus decoding complexity) so that they will work on future hardware devices. Since at this point you cannot target hardware (there's none) use whatever profile you see fit.

I sort of have the same question & that's because I don't understand what is available as you change the profiles. If only for PC playback then is it will you get a better quality output using the HDTV profile over the standard profile when targeting the same file size or then could you encode with the HDTV profile to a smaller file size and obtain the same quality as standard at a larger file size?
