I thought it would be simple to capture some old video and burn it onto DVD, but I am almost tearing my hair out!
The system:
AthlonXP @ 2.3ghz
512mb DDR Dual Channel
Abit NF7-S v2.0
ATi Radeon 9550
Hauppauge PVR-150 PCI
200GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10
I have a Sony camcorder with composite (?) outputs - the red, white and yellow ones. The yellow video one plugs straight into the Composite In on the back of the Hauppauge capture card. I have bought a converter which combines the red and white audio ones into a single headphone style one and plugs into the Line In on the back of the Hauppauge capture card. Should be nowt wrong with that?
First, I tried simply Windows Movie Maker and this proved very temperamental, regularly crashing, though I did eventually manage to make a wmv file with colour and sound – not bad, but the crashing put me off, so I thought I’d try something else.
This time onto the Ulead DVD MovieFactory that came with the card – using this to capture, it often shows nothing in the preview pane, but the one time that it did (even though I hadn't changed any settings !?) I was able to capture some MPEG video, however with no sound. I have applied the Hauppauge patch from the site, the Plug-In is set to Hauppauge, I have the video input as Composite, but it will not let me select an audio input?
Anyway for today I have given up, it just seems so hard!
Please I look for advice from those with the PVR-150 card – what software should I be using to capture analogue video? Preferably some simply software, as VirtualDub and AviSynth are way beyond my capabilities.
Any suggestions as to why capturing is being so temperamental?
