To play all my dvds i use Windows media player9 and Nvidia Purevideo decoder v1.02.145. The dvds look with better quality than using other dvd player software.

I made a dvd movie with RC2 Pro + HC encoder015, and when i try to play it on media player everything runs fine till i try to select any piece of video.

when i select a future part of the video, the bar returns to the beggining, and if i try to select again, the player crashes.

this problem is really weird, because i managed to get a dvd made with an OLD dvdrebuilder version with the same HC015, and i tried it with windows media player 9 with the nvidia purevideo decoder and the dvd was perfect, i was able to select any part of the video bar with no problems, so i guess there must be a bug with the new RC2 ???

"because i downloaded a dvd made with an OLD dvdrebuilder version"

You'll find that people here clam up real quick at the mention of pirated apps/movies. I would edit out that little part, if you want the help of the extremely knowledgable people here. But as for your issue... There are a lot of unanswered questions like..

What dvd was it?
What app versions are you using? ( DVD RB, avisynth, dgdecode)
Did you burn the dvd then try it with WMP?
If you burned the dvd you made did you try it in a set top dvd player?
What non default options did you set in DVD RB?
The dvd ran through dvd rb with no errors at all?

It almost sounds like there are no keyframes or something. Or some definate corruption in the video stream.

-the dvd was constantine.
-dvdrb the 5 meg pack RC2 pro only with HC.
-I didnt burn the dvd, its on the hard disc

-The only option i chose where to use HC, and max quality (slow). nothing else.
- No errors on rebuilder.

this is very strange, i just installed powerdvd and i am able to select the video part i want on powerdvd but not on media player

I know media player has never been very good for playing dvd's. Powerdvd or Intervideo windvd 6 platinum (what I use) are much better choices IMO.

I would say that you should be fine burning the dvd and trying it out in your set top player.

I also recently backed up Constantine with no issues at all.

ill burn it on a rw later tonight.

But what i found strange is that the movie with the OLD dvdrebuilder version that used HC015 did not have any problem with media player, and I used the RC2 pro and i found those problems on media player.

really strange. you should try the nvidia purevideo decoder, nice video quality, much betther than powerdvd.

Would that have come with an Nvidia video card I got like last year? Because I remember I got a cd with Nvidia's own dvd playing software on it, cant remember the name of it, but maybe that has the decoder on it as a seperate installable item... Or is it a free download?
