Problem with Ae Fond Kiss (region 2)

I can't read this region 2 dvd on my drive, even though I have the new versions of anydvd (5.3.2.1) and dvd43 (v3.5.3). Can anyone help?
Does this disc have a new copy protection system?

if you run both anydvd and dvd43 you will complications,run vobblanker with anydvd to create a file to be ripped with dvdshrink

Thanks owlman, but the region 2 disc wont even load on my laptop drive at all (i.e. no disc shows up). I have the most recent versions of anydvd, dvd43 and dvd region+css free and I tried using each individually but still the disc is not acknowledged by my drive. Does anyone have any other ideas how to get round this?

could just be a bad disc,had the same problem with a backup of clifford the big red dog.just put it down to a bad copy

whats the read speed of your dvd writer on your laptop,have friend who has a problem with his laptop,the read speed is not quick enough for shrink to work properly

AE Fond Kiss (Region 2) appears to be a Warner Home Video release. Thus, it should not even have the complications of Sony / Columbia / Tristar releases, with the new Sony ArCCos copy protection.

As one of the replies above mentioned, having both AnyDVD and DVD43 installed at the same time can cause headaches. I am not positive that this is the issue you are bumping into, but I would definitely uninstall one of these. (Note that it can cause havoc to merely have both installed, even if one or the other is not running).

I do not believe he problem is due to copy protection, at least based on wwhat you have chosen to give us.

- Thanks everyone. I have tried 2 different copies of Ae fond kiss R2 and still the disc isn't read by my drive, so i am sure the disc is not damaged. Also my DVD+/-RW drive has a read speed of x24. Is this a good enough read speed?

- And I have tried using dvd43 alone with anydvd uninstalled, but not the other way around. What does everyone reckon I should do? And has anyone actually managed to copy this disc yet?


- Also, i found this message on another forum about unreadble disks being cracked by AnyDVD:
"Please do the following:
1.) Disable AnyDVD (right mouse click on tray icon). Copy all .IFO files to your harddisk. Zip them into one file. Send them to support(at)slysoft.com. (Replace (at) with @)
2.) Keep the disc in the drive.
3.) Double click AnyDVD icon on desktop. Settings window opens. In the "program" tab, enable writing of logfile.
4.) Enable AnyDVD (right mouse click on tray icon). Wait 15 seconds.
5.) Double click AnyDVD icon on desktop. Settings window opens. In the "program" tab, disable writing of logfile.
6.) In your "My Documents" folder is a file called AnyDVD_log.txt. ZIP it and send it to support(at)slysoft.com. (Replace (at) with @)

When sending mails, please include some meaningful information like:
Original DVD "The Upside of Anger", Region Code 1 (US), released July 26, 2005 by New Line Cinema, not recognised. Attached are .IFO and AnyDVD log files."

My query is: How am I supposed to copy the IFO files (step 1) if the disc can't be read by my drive?
