Dvddecrypter: PAL to NTSC ripping? How to

Guys, Im an old time Dvd Decrypter user. Man, I am sad its gone. But this is the first time I have run into this delima and after searching these forums and trying a few rips I havent been too succesful so I am hoping you guys can help me out
I have a dvd from region 2 PAL Robin Hood Men in Tights.
I wanna rip and burn it so it will play in my home Sony dvd player. Its NTSC Region 1.

Im using DVD decrypter.
In settings, I have it set to remove macrovision protection and set to region 1
I rip using ISO read mode.
I burn using ISO write mode
During the rip, it says it must use brute force to crack her open and all goes well
But I have burned the resulting file to disk twice and my dvd player will not recognize the disk

Can someone help me out here using the step by step, Pal to NTSC for dummies method?

you'll need more than just DVDdecrypter to handle that.

look into DGpulldown and resizing in avisynth. Decrypter doesn't touch the video - it just copies it and removes encryption.

You have to extract the video stream, convert it from PAL to NTSC (different video sizes, different framerates) and rebuild your dvd with a dvd authoring program. Check the PAL to NTSC threads in the forum, there are lots.

It won't be as easy as what you did, not unless someone writes a real converter...

how exactely does that one work?
is it an easy rip to conversion process?

To copy a Pal dvd to a Ntsc dvd I use the following process:

1. Copy the Pal vob dvd files onto your hard drive
2. Use program VOB2MGP to change the Pal vob files to mpg files
3. Use program SVCD2DVD v2 to convert the mpg files to vob's and also Pal to Ntsc at the same time
4. Use Shrink to make the Ntsc dvd.

Both programs mentioned are from the SVCD2DVD site. Does require a donation (min $20), but the best 20 bucks I've spent.

SVCD2DVD also converts AVI, MPG & BIN files, go to videohelp web forum site for more info and help (use search).

A friend of mine emailed me TMPGEnc but I find it difficult to use and it doesnt seem to want to recognize any of the file extensions from DVD decrypter or any files on the PAL disc itself.
Ill look for that program tonight

Exactly why I like SVCD2DVD, it's easy to use and does almost everything for beginners like me.

You have to use IFO mode in Decrypter, and demux the files into *.M2V and *.AC3 files in order for TMPGEnc to recognize them.

Does your program convert all the menus and subtitles as well?

Yes, however I usually I eliminate those in Shrink and just copy the Main Movie and extras I want.

If you have a 9gb Pal dvd and you want to split into 2 dvd's, I use the following:

1. Use Decrypter to rip Pal dvd to hd.
2. Use Shrink to Create two backups (using reauthor to split)
3. Load 1st backup into VOB2MPG, process
4. Load mpg file into SVCD2DVD v2 and process
5. Load new vob into Shrink and create Ntsc dvd.
6. Repeat with 2nd backup.

* I've tried VobBlanker and it did not work for me.
