View Full Version : How do I apply the same loudness to several ac3 files?

Hi folks!

I'm quite new to audio encoding and hopefully someone can explain that to me: I want to put some music videos from different DVDs on one disc. The audio is ac3 and I want all videos to have the same perceived loudness or volume or whatever.

Now, there is gain, maxgain and normgain in BeSweet and as it seems to me one can only apply that to one file. But what I want is to have BeSweet determine a common peak level and apply the volume of all files to that level by increasing or decreasing loudness of each file (as MP3Gain does it).

The BeSweet-FAQ here says "If you want BeSweet to find the Overall maxgain, you should use OTA's maxgain." but what is OTA's maxgain?

Most likely the people that have created the dvd video have already normalize the waves prior to creating the AC3 file. You should not have to do this but if you must you would want to increase the files individually. Also if it is music you may want to try the DTS files they will sound a whole lot sweeter.

Hope it helps
