View Full Version : Run-time Error '63'

I'm trying to backup Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (region 1) and during the rebuild process I encounter this error. I'm using DVD-RB Pro 1.00 RC2. I've tried rebuilding several times, but the same error occurs every time. I included a picture of the status log when it gets this error.
I'm going to try re-encoding, then I'll post an update on whether it worked or I'm still having the problem. If I do I guess I'll try an older version...
Ok, encoded again and the same problem is occuring. I'll try rebuilding using an older/free version.

Well, .93 free successfully rebuilt it, but it was oversized by exactly .6gb...The file came out to be 4.94gb :(

I should be sending RC3 out soon. I'm working on some remaining changes in which I'm rewriting some parts of the ILVU distribution algorithm. I noticed some parts were incorrect in testing a backup of ALIEN 3 (Quadrilogy). I went out and bought the Quadrilogy this week when I was told it was a good ILVU test -- that turned out to be a very accurate statement.

Thank you sir :) I guess I'll wait for the update then rather than use the freeware version.

I received this error ('63') trying to backup Spider Man 2, Disc #2. After rebooting and running the process again, I then received "error #6". It goes to 97-98% completion in the rebuild process before failing. I have been waiting a long time to be able to back this up and had hoped that it would work with RC2. I guess I'll wait for another update.

@JohnG
I'll put my copy of Spiderman 2, Disc 2 (NTSC, R1) in and test it before I release RC3...

I just tested Spiderman Disc 2 (NTSC, R1) and it worked fine.
So now can we expect RC3 to be out soon ?

Yes. Just a couple more tests. I made some significant changes and I want to make sure they are working correctly.

I just tested Spiderman Disc 2 (NTSC, R1) and it worked fine.
I just tried it, it worked as well.
I do see one anomaly, not sure if it means anything, but I thought I'd mention it. I get a small error importing the final result into DVD Remake Pro that's not present when I import the original disk before Rebuilder has processed it. It's in the VTS 7, the ILVU multi-angle section. DVD Remake Pro has to recover the cells showing "Recovering C_ADT & VOBU_ADMAP tables. (679:VobData.cpp)" in the log file, as if something is a bit off in the structure, but not too far off, because it works in my standalone.
Interestingly, I see the same sort of thing with DVD Tray Player. It plays the original fine, but if I play the Rebuilder multi-angle section it skips quickly through everything, showing only a second of each chapter, then ultimately stops with a file access error.

Hi
Simpsons season 4 Region 2 disc 1 with RC3 same error again Runtime error 63  ALL settings as default, NO pre processing, cce 2.5 3 pass.
Been having dropped frames on discs 3 + 4 of the same set but NO problems on disc 2. Not tried 3 + 4 with RC3 as yet will try when I get home
Hope you can nail this one down after all the time you've spent on it ;)
Best of luck to you.

Are you doing any other processing? I just ran it through DVD-RB again just to see if I could repeat it as you described, and I imported the output into DVDRemake Pro (v2.6.4) without any problems.

Which segment does it die on? I'm guessing VOBID_12 -- but I want to be sure.

Prepare / Encode OK but on Rebuild Runtime Error 63 Bad record Number. On OK'ing this the program shuts down. Same point as previously:

Just as an update.
Simpsons season 4 Region 2 Disc 1 with RC4 not even getting to finish the encode as cce 2.5 throws an encoding error. Disc 3 of the same set, still getting dropped frames with RC3 but with RC4 now getting "Runtime Error 52 - Bad file name or number".
As before no pre processing and default settings. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling again with Rockas installer. No change. Hope this can be of use.....

Have you had any success with disc 1 of season 4 or is that a silly question?

Ah indeed you have..... I blame working nights..... It does strange things to your head
Sorry about that.........
I know this version didn't specifically fix this one but thought I'd give it a try.
Simpsons season 4 disc 3. RC4.1 still getting "runtime error 52 bad file name or number" at the end of prepare stage.
I have disc 1 of the same set encoding at the moment and will post results tonight. Fingers crossed :)

What? More errors? Is there no end to this? Oh, well, I just happen to have Simpsons Season 4, Disc 3 in front of me... I'll give 'er a whirl.
Sigh... I thought I'd get to rest for a couple of days. This "Release Candidate" series seems to be becoming more like extended beta...

Of course the R1 version of "The Simpsons" S4, D1 went through perfectly fine... Could you provide any additional detail on the "Runtime Error 52"? It happens during PREPARE -- is it always at the end? Is it the last cell, or the end of the last cell? Is it a whole disc encode, movie-only, movie and menus? Any additional information would be great.

I'm in work the moment so can't do a lot... The error used to only be a warning about possible dropped frames while rebuilding (rc 1 2 and 3) but with rc 4 and 4.1 it is "Runtime Error 52 - Bad file name or number".
With rc 1 2 3 it was just a warning, the end result played but when playing the animation showcase and selecting angle 4 the bottom of the screen was just a garbled load of pink/red text. With rc 4 + 4.1 the runtime error seems to be at the very end of the prepare phase. RaistlinMajere has also had the same problems and he seems to know more about the type of info you might need...... Hope this has been of some help :) Good luck
P.S. this happenes with disc 4 too......

10th August 2005, 18:05
I don't think there is any connection between the missing frames and the Runtime Error 52... The missing frames are an encoder problem.
soupdragon
10th August 2005, 18:57
You would know about that more than me (simple newbie here), all I know is that it fails at the end of prepare with the runtime 52 error.
The problem with possible dropped frames happened on two different machines. Same disc and same versions of all the component programs on both pc's, the runtime 52 error happenes on both machines too. Sorry I can't be of more help, this must be so frustrating for you :(

@jdobbs,
I just try the RC4.1 with the same DVD which have problem with Error 63 in the recent RC4, and the result is Error 6: Overflow. at the same point while rebuilding phase.
You can see the log from my other post.
PS. I think it's variable scope problem (small integer maybe..)
Thank you.

Could you check something for me? Could you see if V01004600013001 is the last segment in VTS 01 -- and there is ILVU in the next VTS that was to be processed?
Thanks.
