View Full Version : Thanks for those who work on this project

This is just a small thanks, instead of bug gripes, to those who contribute to this project and the projects (tools) that are used to interface with the encoders. Without your passion for perfection and love of learning and exploration of knowledge we would be stuck doing things the hard way or having to put up with less than stellar results from the competition.

I second that. When I started backing up projects, I can remember spending up to three days to do a single DVD; what, with having to strip everything out, re-encode it, and finally reauthor it -- only to find out that the projects *might* work in the end. Not to mention having to calculate bitrates and filesizes... the list goes on! Maybe if you're authoring your own DVDs of family footage or vacatation stuff, you'd expect that kind of hassle for professional results. But it's more than a little nice to be completely done with a backup project -- from foreplay to cleanup -- within a few hours. Hats off to Jdobbs, Rockas, and all those attached to this wonderfull software. A million times over, thank you all!

Although I agree with your statements, "Bug Gripes" just so happen to be us beta testing and reporting back errors to improve the final code. Many of us aren't bothered by the bugs as its, as you mentioned, a great program that takes dvd copying to the next level with a ease of use. I'm sure jdobbs likes the fact that we use the program extensivly and report back errors. Imagine how hard it would be to find errors on his machines alone.

@Thracian

Sure, Jdobbs wanted our input and bug reports -- and he's done a stand-up job in looking into our "gripes." Very true and granted, those complaints have often resulted in a stronger, newer, version (not to mention another step toward Rebuilder coming out of beta). But who doesn't like a great big "thank you" when they're working hard on something many find useful? If I read Fedge's post correctly, I took his reference to "gripes" as borderline sarcasm... a sort of self-ribbing on the part of us beta testers. So he started a thread that -- hopefully -- Jdobbs will find as rewarding as a cold beer on a hot day. What better way than to say "Thanks!" Sure, there are other threads expressing the same idea... but these disappear quickly as others reply to bug reports. Maybe we're causing headaches for moderators (such as Jdobbs himself, now that I think about it) by flooding the forums with several threads expressing the same idea... but gratitude's gratitude. And I'll never miss an opportunity to thank the man for a job well done!

..gratitude's gratitude. And I'll never miss an opportunity to thank the man for a job well done!

Right on! A big thanks for the hard work of everyone involved in making this such a great program!

:thanks:

Kudos to fedge. A thank you goes a long way. :)

The thanks go to the many beta testers who have run this software through its paces, often even coming here with the answer as to what they think is causing it.

Thats one of the things I love about the Doom9 forum -- this is where the experts come to share their knowledge...

I just got RC4.1 and the thanks I feel are rejuvenated. It's just amazing to see this grow. That framecount error is still killing me though.......
