Hum i didnt know where to post this so i decided on here :)

Anyway, i just formatted my hard drive, installed everything, updates etc.... but i get this problem when i try to play video files (any format): When i play a video file, my comp hangs and cpu usage hits 100% - im basically frozen out for about 1 minute, and i have to try end task my player or else reboot. Any ideas?

OS: WinXP
MEM: 512MB
GFX: NVIDIA 6600GT
Installed: XviD, DivX, ffdsgow, ac3filter, etc

ps: all my games play properly at my usual frame rate, so it cant be a gfx card problem can it?

What media player are using? It's worth trying another one before doing anything else... Media Player Classic is IMO a nice player.

Edit:
You can get it here...
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm
among many other places.

I have NVIDIA 6600GT and I would say - Yes it's exactly a gfx card problem !!!
Try with newer/older drivers... in my case the solution was underclocking the card + removing the 2D mode - i. e. the card is always in 3D Performance Mode

Could you give a hint on how to underclock the card? This may be exactly my problem as well.

The safe way is by using Riva Tuner or Power Strip or similar tweaker.
