encoded a channel sound test.
It plays the R, L, Center, ... channels right in Videolan,
but i dont get any sound from Quicktime (windows).
Any ideas???

That's odd....
I presume you've found the following options under: -
"Edit -> Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences -> Audio"

erm double post, but ...
yes i set this to 5.1, but a 5.1 test file, which played fine in VLC for example, doesnt work in QT. with that i mean no sound at all.
But we had this discussion somewhere else, so thx for replying anyway :)

Have you tried opening RAW 6Ch AAC files in QT7?
I wonder why Apple did not include an S-P/DIF output option... Not that it could be used for multichannel AAC without some form of "on-the-fly" transcoding.

ok tried what u suggested and got the following results:
- QT idd plays 6ch aac raw files
- I can only export it back to a .mov, .mp4 only accepts stereo configuratie.
- I used headac3he-024a12 to create the 6ch aac file. Channel mapping is a totally off, i got front channels from my surround speaker.
