View Full Version : Is the '2-click' feature request still alive?

Hi jdobbs,
This is regarding the long discussed 'Prepare' and 'Encode/Rebuild' two click feature request :p

Just wondering where this might be lately, since whenever I have seen it mentioned in a thread, there seems to be a lot of support for it. From what I have read, it appears most (if not all) RB users do their processing/editing between the 'prepare' and 'encode' phase, leaving little use for the last click to 'rebuild'. I'm not aware of many (any?) who do any 'post encode' processing, but I may be wrong. Is there still a real need for a separate 'rebuild' button, or could it be wrapped into this two click option? I can see a lot of convenience in offering this option for those who want to prepare, edit, and then leave it alone overnight. Not having to wait for it to finish encode in order to just hit the rebuild button would certainly help that.

The independent REBUILD button is definitely needed... you wouldn't want to have to do a complete 2 hour encode if all you really needed to do was REBUILD again.

What I think I may do is this -- if you push the REBUILD button and encoding hasn't been completed, ENCODE will be called automatically. That would serve the same function as 2-Click. What do you think of that idea?

Yes, I like that idea... would there be some sort of an indicator that would allow the user to know for sure that the encode/rebuild feature was activated? Some sort of a message or key?

Does that mean encoding could be paused/resumed and rebuilding would still occur at the end? What about if rebuilder is completely closed, for example if you really needed to restart your machine, and then re-opened? Would it still remember that the "Encode and Rebuild" feature had been triggered?

Would it still remember that the "Encode and Rebuild" feature had been triggered? All that will happen is that if the REBUILDER.INF file doesn't say encoding is completed, the REBUILD phase will simulate a button push of ENCODE... that way it will do the same resume as if you'd pushed it.

jdobbs,

I think that is a great idea for the pro version.

Thanks for all your hard work!

But there is a two click mode already!?!?!

Just select "Skip prepare phase in Batch" on Menu file... save the project... load it into Batch mode... and hit "Start"...

I guess this isn't complicated :)

You can even select "Shutdown at Batch completion".

actually I think this solution will be a lot less complicated than going through the batch mode :D
