View Full Version : ILVU Prob? "ERROR: File V050... shows completed, but no .M2V file exists. Aborted."

I am getting

ERROR: File V05000 100002001 shows completed, but no .M2V file exists. Aborted.

in a pop-up window during the one-click backup process with DVD-RB 1.00 RC2 using HC. The backup stops (fails) at that point.

No pre-processing was done; the DVD was ripped to ISO using DVD Decrypter and mounted using Daemon Tools.

It looks like it may be related to ILVU? I say this because DVD-RB detects the ILVU for VTS5, and that is also where the backup fails.

I am trying the same backup using QuEnc, because of what I found in the below threads. I'll post how that goes. I am also including my log output.

Any help would be appreciated!

Using QuEnc gave a slightly different error.

It still popped an error during the encoding process when it reached VTS_05 segment 1. This time, however, after clicking OK, it continued and completed rebuilding.

The error seemed to be thrown from AviSynth:

Avisynth open failure:
Evaluate: Unrecognized exception! (E:\DVDrb_work\D2VAVS\V05000100002001.avs, line 6)

Any ideas? Maybe a bug in DVD-RB 1.00 RC2, or I am missing something (also known as being an idiot).

:thanks:

Same exact spot everytime?
Is there anything special about segment 30?
How many frames are in it?
What disc are you trying to backup?
Do you overclock your machine at all?
Does CCE get called at all?
Does it start encoding and then just wig out or never start at all?
Do you have CCE's logging feature enabled? Is there anything there that might shed some light?

I started decoding the first dvd of season 1 of Dead Like Me on an older version of DVD Rebuilder (0.7?). A couple of times during encoding my comp crashed completely and I started looking for answers on this forum. I hadn't been here for quite some time, so I was happy to see v0.93 was released and installed this version. First I just installed it over the previous version and tried to encode from where the old version crashed but I got this error. I uninstalled Rebuilder completely and installed 0.93 freshly. The same error occured this time, only immediately after the preparing process instead of the point I tried to continue from last time.

It seems the particular segment makes no difference to the error.
CCE does not show up on my screen (not minimizing it in rebuilder setup).
My comp is not overclocked at all (Athlon 2800+, 1024MB RAM).
CCE's log only says:
fexp thread terminated.

Your problem if I had to take a guess would be with Avisynth or Your encoder .dll. Which version of Avisynth, and are you using the DGDecode that comes with the RB install package? Are you pointing to it properly in RB setup?

@BobZhome

If CCE is balking in the exact same spot every time, my guess would be that there could be something wrong with your source. I would try re-ripping it and see if that helps.
As far as the number of frames goes, you can either look at CCE while it's encoding(upper left corner), check the rebuilder .inf file in your working directory, or use RB's Preview Editor.

P.S
Within the CCE program settings(not RB)you can make CCE keep a log of it's activity for troubleshooting purposes. Sometimes it can be invaluable in tracking down problems.

I've reinstalled Avisynth (2.55) and made sure the correct dlls are used, but the error still occurs. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong right now. Hope you can help, otherwise I'll try an older version of rebuilder and see if that helps.

jdobbs

How are you retrying each time? You may want to make sure the the VAF file for that segment is deleted before the next attempt -- as an incomplete VAF can cause CCE to error out on every retry.

Also try opening the file V030030xxxxxxxx.AVS directly with Microsoft Media Player and see if the file has some sort of problem.

@jptheripper
I did rerip the files using DVD Decrypter File mode (to eliminate any mounted ISO variables), and I also uninstalled and reinstalled DVD-RB 1.00 RC2. There were no read errors during the ripping process. I also switched to the 3 step process for DVD-RB. Using HC as the encoder, I hit the exact same problem as before.

@SpazzHH
I am using AviSynth 2.55 and the default decoder dll that comes with the Pro installer. I have deleted the work directory after every attempt to ensure there were no leftover problems there.

I'll have to run the QuEnc encode again to take a look at line 6 of the AVS file, as I deleted those files after the bad encode.

The only options changed from DVD-RB default are:

Encoder changed to HC
HC quality set to BEST
ISO creation mode enabled - delete files after ISO creation enabled
Use Half-D1 and Half-Quality for extras (also left Steal 10% from Extras enabled)
Under AVS Options - ConvertToYUY2() and AudioDub(BlankClip) both disabled
Under AVS Options - iDCT decoder set to XViD
Changed main feature matrix to Smooth(CG) and Very Low bitrate matrix to QLC

Ceauz
21st July 2005, 22:07
I've now tried to encode a different DVD and the same error occurs immediately after the encoding stage begins. I always clear the working directory before starting a new project and the AVS files seem to work fine when opened with media player. I will try an older version of rebuilder tomorrow.

Is there a possibility that there is something left over in the Filter Editor that is having trouble loading? After the "Prepare" stage, open the AVS file with Notepad and see what line 6 has to say.

@Ceauz
Have you tried another encoder to see if the problem is with CCE or somewhere else?

Ceauz
22nd July 2005, 15:12
The problem seems to be with CCE, as QuEnc works. But why would this problem only arise after I installed 0.93 of Rebuilder and not before that? I haven't changed anything about CCE itself.

jdobbs
22nd July 2005, 15:48
Yes. You'd mentioned that you were using v0.7x before. The extra check and error message didn't exist back then. It was added only after the problem started occuring in CCE (v2.70) in order to save people from having unknown bad encodes.

I think you have something else wrong, though, as this pretty much never happens with CCE v2.50. Have you changed your ECLCCE version?

Ceauz
22nd July 2005, 16:27
I didn't change ECLCCE versions but, after reading your last post, thought it was a good idea to download and install the last version. I don't know which version I had before, but the new one works like a charm! I don't know what exactly went wrong with it before, but everything works now, so I don't complain.

Thanks a lot for all your help SpazzHH and jdobbs, I couldn't wish for faster and better support than this! :thanks:

Is there a possibility that there is something left over in the Filter Editor that is having trouble loading? After the "Prepare" stage, open the AVS file with Notepad and see what line 6 has to say.
Just to try out different variations, I uninstalled/reinstalled DVD-RB and AviSynth (wiping the directories as well), and tried another QuEnc encode with nothing changed from DVD-RB defaults except turning off all extra compression and using the Rockas skin. Same problem as before.

So, line 6 of the AVS is:

mpeg2source("E:\DVDrb_work\D2VAVS\VI0500002001.D2V")

The first part of the D2V file is:

DGIndexProjectFile06
1
37 E:\DVDrb_work\D2VAVS\VI0500002001.VOB

Stream_Type=1
iDCT_Algorithm=2
YUVRGB_Scale=1 (0:TVScale 1:PCScale)
Luminance_Filter=0,0 (Gamma, Offset)
Clipping=0,0,0,0 (ClipLeft, ClipRight, ClipTop, ClipBottom)
Aspect_Ratio=16:9
Picture_Size=720x480
Field_Operation=0 (0:None 1:ForcedFILM 2:RawFrames)
Frame_Rate=23976
Location=0,0,0,692C8
The VOB file is there. It seems that VTS_05 is a one-angle VOB that presents an alternate angle for parts of VTS_01. I'm not sure how alternate angles are usually setup, but is that abnormal?

Are you creating your D2V's with DGIndex or letting RB create them?

SDragoon

Are you creating your D2V's with DGIndex or letting RB create them?

All RB, all the way baby.

I'm trying yet again, this time I used the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter to rip the DVD. We'll see how that goes.

jdobbs
23rd July 2005, 21:37
If you are using DVD-RB then this has to be a misprint:

mpeg2source("E:\DVDrb_work\D2VAVS\VI0500002001.D2V")

DVD-RB could never create a file of that name.

jdobbs
23rd July 2005, 22:15
On the original disc the interleaved sections cannot be read by using DGDecode because it doesn't handle ILVU. So when an interleaved cell is needed for reencoding (and to be run through DGDECODE into AVISYNTH and then the encoder) it is extracted without interleaving into a temporary .VOB. The "VI..." D2V files point into the extracted temporary VOB files. The files are not persistent... because to keep them available in both their interleaved and non-interleaved state on a largely ILVU DVD would require twice as much disc space (up to 9 extra gigabytes).

DVD-RB extracts and removes them on demand.

Hope that makes sense.

SDragoon
25th July 2005, 01:46
...
Hope that makes sense.

I think I see now.. thanks for the explanation.

I still haven't been able to get RB to work with this disk, but dropping the VTS with multiple angles using VOBBlanker got the size down to around 4.1GB, so I just went with that method.

I'm still curious as to what the root problem is though.

What disc is it? There are a few ILVU issues that will be corrected soon with the RC3 release.

The disc is Paranoia Agent Volume 1.

I'll try again when RC3 hits and see how it goes.

By the way, this is the only disc I've ever had any problem with at all.
DVD-RB rocks!

OK, using RC3 now.

A fresh attempt using HC yielded the exact same results.

Attempting to open the avs file in Windows Media Player gave the same exception as DVD-RB did.

I'm pretty sure it's fixed in RC4 -- but since I couldn't repeat it, I can't be 100%.

I finally got around to retesting the disk (Paranoia Agent Vol 1) with RC4.1.

I got the same results when RB hit the ILVU section during the encoding phase.

@SDragoon

Could you post the end of the D2V file? Does it have the final "FINISHED" line? Could you zip up and send the following to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com?

1. The REBUILDER.INI file
2. The REBUILDER.ECL
3. All the D2V and AVS files
4. The log file from the job
5. A listing of the D2VAVS directory.

I'd really like to put an end to this error.

Thanks.

@jdobbs

I just sent the file. Let me know if you need me to send/verify/change anything else.

Thanks!

@SDragoon

Your files were a great help. I think I've found this one and corrected it.

I just wanted to report a successful bug fix!

I ran DVD-RB RC5.1 on the offending DVD, and everything went great. The disc played perfect (including the multi-angle sequence) on my ancient Sony player.

jdobbs, as always, you are the man.

:cool:

I hate bumping threads,especially bug threads.....

But I'm getting this error,and only using HC...

I've been using CCE 2.7,and just up and tried HC for a comparo,and wham!....this error.

I'm gonna rip another disc,but if I find the error again.....I'll post files..and disc titles.....but I believe it's a setup error.....

*edit
Files sent....

**edit again....

Thanks!,that version did it........I saw a RB update note while back that said older versions were NOT gonna be supported.....and did NOT see anywhere here that 15a does not work properly.....

Thanks again......now,time for comparos.... :cool:
