Nero Digital Pro available now

For those who interested in Nero Digital Pro, it's available on Nero's homepage now.

However, the package seems like nothing special but just a bundle of other Nero's solutions.

According to "www.cdrinfo.com":
"The package includes full versions of five different applications: Nero Recode 2, Nero ShowTime 2, Nero PhotoSnap, Nero MediaHome and NeroVision Express 3."

If you've downloaded the latest NVE-3.1.0.14a, you no need to redownload the Nero Digital Pro. The two setup files are exactly the same.

It's really simple. Now if you just want to buy Nero Digital, you don't need to buy Nero 6 just to get Nero Digital..

although imho the name pro was not such a great choice.. it may mislead people into thinking pro offers something over NeroDigital, which is not the case. Since not everybody here reads my news, I'm still awaiting the "does pro mean it includes the avc high profile encoder?" question.

i have the same thought as well... i though high profile avc was included. If not what makes Nero Digital difference to Nero Digital Pro apart from the name?

I don't think NeroDigital's "High Profile AVC" implementation has made it into NeroDigital Pro.... As it's not even made it into NeroDigital Express!

And as the version numbers and file sizes for NeroDigital Pro and NeroDigital Express are identical. So one would presume they are indeed the same: -

It's really simple. Now if you just want to buy Nero Digital, you don't need to buy Nero 6 just to get Nero Digital..
I was confused with the first impression that the Nero Digital Pro == Nero Vision Express. The installers are the same. Is Nero turning the Nero package 2 (Nero Vision Express) into Nero Digital Pro? :D

Perhaps it differs from the licenses you purchased. Program installed without lincense will expire after the trial period and no longer be "usable".

The "Pro" here is then refers to a digital package (with more nero's digital solutions) rather than more advance features in the Nero's AVC Codec.

This also implies once Nero Digital supports avc high profile (when the encoder is ready), so do Nero Digital Pro since "Pro" version is Nero Digital + other Nero's solutions?

I don't think NeroDigital's "High Profile AVC" implementation has made it into NeroDigital Pro....Not it hasn't... Doom9 news readers, as usual, are better informed ;)

I did a checksum (MD5 and CRC32) on both installer. Both having same checksum returned.

Well I don't know what makes you think that "pro" should mean High Profile.
I believe the latest currently under public beta testing Ateme codec will be included when the testing is finished.
I don't think it makes sense to sell High Profile separately as "Nero Digital Pro".

No difference. They made Nero Burning Rom and Nero Digital Pro, 2 separated products so you can buy Nero Digital alone.
(That's at least what i understood...)

JohnV, I am a little concerned with Nero using the "Pro" tag to describe its software when several features that have been requested since the very first release that still a year and a half later have not made it in.

Seriously, how hard can it be to implement a stitch feature that would allow users to select 20 files and have encoded into one single output file or allow a user to set a resolution for multiple files instead of having to go into each file's video tab and manually select the resolution? Or allowing video/audio passthrough similar to what QT does. There have many more requests that have seemingly been either ignored or deemed not important enough.

I know I have sent requests in to support for some of these features and I either get no reply or the obligatory "we will pass this on to the developers."

I love ND an want to see it grow into a better program. But lacking the basic stitch function and the ability to set a resolution for multiple files is just a lack of vision at this point.

But to call a program "Pro" when it offers the exact same fucntionality found in its higher priced bundle is silly at this point.

Maybe Nero could use NeroDigital Express instead of NeroDigital Pro... okay I'm joking ;)

Why couldn't NeroDigital Pro just have had, Nero Recode 2 and Nero ShowTime 2... (and at a push Nero MediaHome)?

Nero probably labels your request as rather unusual, batch processing in general is unusual, most people encode movies one by one. Implementing such featues also can require much effort.

@shark: I agree. Recode accepts multiple sources. Joining them would be the best option and to take it one step further, each source could be a chapter in the final output file.

The reason why this feature is important to me, is that I have/do a bunch of tutorial files similar to Lynda.com's and in a tutorial disc, I can have up to a 100 different files at 5fps. If I put them all in the Recode window and select a lower bit rate that automatically downsizes (which is what I dont want, I have to manually go into each file and disable or select custom resize and with a 100 files, there is bound to be a missed file or it takes too long. It would be much nicer to just to set the resolution for the entire files (1280x720p), set the bit rate for all files without having to use the slider, and the final output file have 100 chapters.

It just seems ridiculous that this funtion has been overlooked for such a long time. Just like the ability to manually enter in the bit rate instead of using the slider. These lack of functions is what is preventing a good program from being a great program.

To the poster above that said it takes serious work to implement changes, how hard would it be to put a tic box that the user could check to stitch the files together (ala Canopus Procoder) and at the end of the encoding process, join them together?

Nah...What they really should do is to unlock nd encoder to be accessible as vfw codec.
Atm, it has absolutely no use(at least for me) with all needful options unavialiable.
Furthermore, recode interface's sux imho.

The Nero Digital from what i know have always had this absurd (and stupid IMHO) attitude regards users : they never get into account what "mid-pro" users say regarding bugs and other questions...
The thing that piss me off is that the ND codec is such a great piece of software, but is paired with such a great s*it piece of software like Nerobi Nerubu & NeroLamerblabla,
that are glued to their lama functions since the dinosaurus age.
