PgcEdit Preview Version 2.0

Usually I use the screen capture function in PgcEdit's Preview window for capturing screenshots.

However, earlier today I had a DVD where I wanted to capture screenshots of a few very specific frames in the movie. And the preview function in PgcEdit didn't allow me to show the frames one by one until I got to the right one...? When I used the > button it seemed to skip some frames, and not just go to the next one? Is this intended or is it a bug?

(For my specific DVD, I had to install WinDVD for me to be able to capture the right frames)

CoNS, that's not a bug (well, it is but I think this is by design). The preview only shows I-frames. You can't stop on a B or P frame. That's too bad but there's no way around that, that's the way DVD2AVI was written as far as I can tell. Use another program. VirtualDubMod, or quite simply PowerDVD etc...

I'll use WinDVD for now. For some weird reason Media Player Classic, which is my favourite software player, comes up with an error whenever I try to use the capture function.

BTW, I've always been too lazy to read up on the differences between I, P and B frames (are there any more types?). Could you explain briefly? There's something about I-frames and your MenuShrink app aswell, right?

I's are full referenced frames. They're like a picture drawn in its entirety. Bs and Ps are predictor frames and exhibit the differences from their respective I frames, based on motion etc. An I frame comes along every 0.4 seconds at least (except, I think the very last I-frame can be 1.2 seconds away from its predecessor).

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.
