View Full Version : Trouble creating bin/cue file from a multiplexed mpeg

I could use some help :) I think I may be in over my head a little here.

How do I create a bin/cue file with VCDImager if I have a multiplexed MPEG? I'm not sure how to go about writing the command lines in an xml document to make that happen.

I have been using DVD2SVCD to back up my DVD's and up until now have had no problems. Recently, the program created a bin/cue file with the correctly cut audio between the two files for CD1 and CD2 but the video continues to run beyond the audio on CD1. The video picks up for the last 15 minutes on disc 2 leaving a good half hour of audio with no video.

After reading the forums on DVD2SVD troubleshooting--I tried disabling antivirus software and using internal ripping--but nothing worked.

So, I was stuck with a manual edit to fix the problem. I used TMpegnc merge and cut feature using the encoded video files that DVD2SVCD created to make 2 new mpg files cut at the right place to synch with the already correct encoded audio files that DVD2SVCD created. I then used TMpegnc to multiplex these video and audio files. Everything seems to be in synch when I play it back.

Here's where I'm stuck. DVD2SVCD usually goes through an anlysis of the created multiplexed files and then launches VCDXbuild to create the bin/cue file. I don't know how to recreate this process manually. I read the xml files originally created by DVD2SVCD but I don't know how to edit the command lines to use the new multiplex files I created. When I click on VCDXbuild, it opens briefly and then closes.

1) This may not be an appropriate question for this forum, but is there a way to have DVD2SVD skip the initial steps of the program and start with the multiplexed files that I created?

2) If not, can you offer any advice on how to do it manually?

Sorry for the long post. Thought it was better to give too much info instead of not enough.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Do use any free version of VCDEasy.

I have a copy of the free download of VCD Easy but it only allows mpegs up to 200 MB so I can't use it to create a VCD.

If you use the same filenames as DVD2SVCD uses and save to the original project folder, you can crash-recover.

To clarify :
1) find the names of your muxed files created by DVD2SVCD.
2) Rename your manually created files to EXACTLY the same name.
3) Cut and paste your new files to the original project folder - if you have renamed them correctly you will get a prompt from Windows saying the file exists and do you want to overwrite. Click yes.
4) Launch DVD2SVCD, go into the Misc tab and press "Recover". You will be prompted to browse for a project file. Find the one in the folder you've just saved the files in.
5) In the dropdown box in the Misc tab, select the Authoring stage, then press continue. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES choose Muxing and cutting in the dropdown box as this will cause DVD2SVCD to redo the muxing, overwriting your nice new files!!
6) Enjoy :)

Thanks for your reply.

I actually found a program on the downloads page here that did the trick--TSCV. It basically has the option to say "turn this multiplexed mpeg into a bin/cue file" and then launches VCDXBuild to do it--bypassing the step that I could not recreate manually on my own.

But I like your fix. Very smart :)

I may try it next time just for kicks if I run into the same problem again.

You don't have a free version, you have a trial one.
Search for download VCDEasy 1.1.4
