Hi,

I'm having a problem getting 5.1 aac playback out of videos encoded with MeGui using Mplayer. First, I'm using the mplayer download for Athlon XP that I got here:

http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/mplayer

Next, I encode my video in MeGui using AAC 5.1 HE with a CBR at 224. Now I don't believe MeGui is the problem as in the log during the muxing, mp4box reports that the audio is 5.1.

However, when dropping my resulting file onto mplayer, it reports only 2 channel audio. I've tried changing audio outputs to no avail. I have a soundstrom motherboard so I'd really like to get this working.

Any suggestions? Different mplayer build? Anything? Thanks so much.

MPlayer will report 2 channels if there is no capable 5.1 system connected. It downmixes from 6 ch to 2 ch.

To check if the file is 5.1 load it inside Foobar2000, then right-click it and go to Properties. On the right-side it'll tell you whether the file is 5.1 (channels = 6) etc.
