Hi There !
Thanks to your aweosme guide (the all 3, new) I almost suceedeed in backing up my DVD. However, I have this problem in Scenarist when I press "Start":
_Track_t.vob" mismatch. Please contact technical support.
Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD files could not be created
All directory are well labeled and right. Could it be that I made too many passes ? I used CCE SP 2.5 and did 8 passes.
Thanks for helping me... I'm so close to doing it, I hope all those hours of encoding aren't wasted :D

Tiger, chances are there is another error / message in the mux window where you saw that failure.
If you can copy it all out and paste over here we can probably help more (you can highlight w/ your mouse / ctrl key then use ctl-c to copy out)

Also was this with a Scenaid or NuMenu4u script ?

Scenaid script
D3s7
16th July 2005, 19:06
sounds like an audio issue...
enable in scenaid the options to fix/pad audio for both PGC and VOBID
then rescan, generate script
are you letting scenaid call your encoder app or is doitfast4u doing it?
TigerLord
16th July 2005, 20:43
scenaid open BCCE alone, so I guess doitfast4u had nothing to do with it
I have Scenaid 1.0.0 ... I couldnt find the option you specified
Am I blind or is it onyl available in 1.7?
thanks
Trahald
16th July 2005, 21:54
Yeah.. Scenarist doesnt scan the audio before mux (generally no authoring program does) .. if it hits a crc error along the way it truncates the audio there (but doesnt report it :( ). sometimes this causes the size of the muxed vob not to match what it predicted it should be so it fails its 'sanity' check and errors out. future doitfast4u's will use Delaycut for correcting delay which will fix crc errors. fortunately scenaid also has the option to process the audio with Delaycut.

so that means my encoding hours aren't lost ???... I'm sort of a noob in dvd authoring (ive only make xvid/divx rips in the past, which is infinitely more simpler than authoring).
So now, I should re-open Scenaid 1.0.0 and do something else and have the script re-written? Any hint on how to do that?
Thanks :)

Add silence to PGC Demux (makes audio same lenght as video) and Add silence to VOBID Demux (makes audio same lenght as video) (as the guide indicated) before starting anything ... but again, I only have Scenaid 1.0.0 ...
Is there anything I can do at this point to salvage my encoded vob ?

What you need to understand is that the majority of the time is taken by video encoding - this you have done already.
See this post http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=686238#post686238
to upgrade to scenaid 1.7.0.2. It does have VIP features, but what you need is covered by the freeware part. Add your silence as you have said (pgc & vobid). Under Encoder Options, deselect open encoder & deselect start encoder, and then rerun scenaid This will now correct the audio length, but will skip the video encoding. Authoring will be started anc the VOB will be recreated. A full disc takes about 20mins on my machine
TigerLord
17th July 2005, 13:12
That I knew... video encoding is always the lenghtest operation... especially 8 passes ! Anyway, like I said, I have my "share" of experence, however none in authoring. DVDShrink worked well in the past, but I wanted to make real backups... and I believe 8 passes is good enought, or is it overkill (CCE 2.5 SP)
Well, looks like Scenaid 1.7.0.2 fixed my problem... scenarist is currently mixing everything and no errors popped up yet. Hopefully everything will synch ! Thanks for the help :)

well scenarist did its job well, but after putitng all vob together, it didnt work at all...
I checked all vob files in the Scenarist muxed directory ...\...\0\ and they all individually played well in PowerDVD. Audio was well muxed. However, after making a new dir, copying the NuMenu4u's VIDEO_TS folder , and using BatchIfoUpdate (which cut/pasted the required vob from the scenarist ...\...\...\0\VIDEO_TS folder, I opened the DVD in PowerDVD and passed the MGM logo, I can hear sound (these VTS were left untouched) but only black screen, and when I want to go into the menu nothing...
Any idea ?
Zeul
17th July 2005, 17:43
sounds like one of 2 possibilites. 1) NuMenu didn't create the menus properly or the updating was at fault.
Have you stripped / removed anything (except unwanted subs/audio)? What settings did you use in BatchIfoUpdate?
TigerLord
17th July 2005, 17:59
Nothing was stripped, and all settings for BatchIfoUpdate were as shown in the guide...
Funny thing is, I dont recall NuMenu popping up ... is that done before or after video encoding?

NuMenu is done before any encoding - it is called by DIF4U (even you have set it to do so, in the options).
The warnings will not cause a problem unless your DVD has Button Over Video (ie menu buttons that pop up as the main film is playing)
After the start up screen, does the black screen just stay on indefinately?
You could try running pgcedit in TRACE mode - it will trace the path that the DVD is taking, allowing you to pinpoint the problem.

Because I started with an old version of scenaid and wanted to finish with another, I started having all sort of errors and decided to start all over again from scratch. I noticed I hadnt checked "Re-Encode Menus using NuMenu4u Before Demuxing" but after checking it and running DoitFast4U, I cannot figure for the love of god why after re-encoding the menu NuMenu4u imports a script in Scenarist... then I get a layout error and DoItfast4u waits for NuMenu4u to close but it never will since Scenarist can't mux anything...
I don't understand why NuMenu4u imports a script in Scenarist before I even started to encode the other assets??? Scenaid didnt even launch yet... any idea?

No build errors previous to this. I used the fix/pad option for both PGC and VOBID and rescanned/saved and still receive this error.
Let me know what logs you need if any and where to send them.

mls, email me the .scp and the import log (assuming you allowed automate_scenarist to do the initial importing) and the Scenaid.log
EDIT:: Ok.. i'm being told that the problem is the audio file corrected by ac3delaycorrector during the initial demux stage (by DIF4U) - currently the fix is to manually re-demux the audio and manually correct the delay, then it will work

Yes, everything works... only thing is, something isnt working still... before the menu there is the usual MGM DVD thingie, and then, some preview for some movies... we hear the sound but not the video...
thats the only detail I have to fix now... thing is, VTS01 was the MGM Video, and VTS02 was the video preview, which was automatically unchecked by the DoItFast4u ... my questions is: can I re-encode the VTS02 and remux manually ?
Funny thing, althought Ive made 8 passes, video quality isnt that great... well, on my monitor anyway.
thanks for the help

I will try this, do I need to use a different program to fix the delay, or is DIF4U doing something improper with it? If so, what should I use instead?
Edit: None of my ac3s have a delay according to DVDDecrypter :\ The ones I demuxed manually via DVDDec are binary copies of the ones I attempted to mux in Scenarist.

i may need to add an option to force scanning for CRC errors then...
open them in Delaycut and there's an option for Fix CRC, check that then let it run... it will tell you how many errors it fixed
Did so and processing log is empty. Said successful though. fc says they are the same as well. Used 1.2.0.4 .

yeah.. imho - dont even make it optional.. (or make it optional with default to on).
i had a weird one.. i had to run delay cut on it a second time.. (it fixed things the first run but fixed another thing the second run) .. once that was done mux was fine.
Well, update: I ran the m2vs through DGPulldown with no changes and it works fine now. So I assume the trouble was with me using the BatchCCE pulldown or something (was using the unstable version).
Anyway, now I have an undersized project :(. Oh well, one hurdle crossed, onto the next.

Oh.. and make sure to use the latest 0916h your next project if you use cce 2.7x.. there were ecl related fixes to multipass mode.
And also please continue to use the unstable versions if you can.. they are working good for me but it helps to have as many testers and varieties of sources as possible.
Yeah, it is Seinfeld S4 Disc 1. Using CCE Retail 2.67.00.27, with the direct to CCE option in Batch, no ECLCCE.
Attempting to attach zip of my log file, should be the last few jobs in the log.
If you attempt it, can you also let me know what it gives you for bitrate? I was given ~2800 for main VTS (I use 2250 for extras), demux threshold of 250MB in DIF4U. And I end up with a project of about 3.8GB for some reason.

correct me if I'm wrong but cce 2.67 needs eclcce.... the direct to cce option is only for 2.7
Thats what it says, but it seems to work properly. *shrug*
Edit: Heres the full setup for those interested:
Avisynth 2.5.5.0
BatchCCEWS 0.9.1.6f
CCE 2.67.00.27 Retail
DGDecode 1.4.0 (modified avs myself to use dgdecode.dll and rewrote d2vs with forced film)
DIF4U 1.4.7
ScenAid 1.7.0.2
Scenarist 2.7
Think thats it as far as what matters.

you need to put dgindex.exe and dgdecode.dll in the scenaid install dir, then it will become active

ah yes all of the seinfeld dvds have an issue with the ac3 audio file. What you need to do, after doitfast4u has finished, you need to run all the audio files through a little app called ac3fix http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/acfix-Download-17674.html
after which you wont have any muxing issues.
The ac3fix app fixed all my scenarist problems i was having with the 4 seasons of seinfeld dvds.

yeah.. i did the process (seinfeld s4 d1) with no issues.. i ran dif4u and let scenaid create dgindex d2v's. i used cce 2.70. encoded fine (batchccews) and authored fine with scenarist. i couldnt recreate the issue.
i did vobid demux (well for some reason dif4u picked it) i noticed the pgc demux ac3 (what you would have) had crc errors.. see below... the vobid demux version had no crc errors.

something like that will not fly with scenarist. delaycut fixes issues like that and is in scenaid and will be in new dif4u's.
redoing the video with dgpulldown probably just got scenarist to recalibrate the audio so it realized that it had a problem and stopped muxing at the error spot. (which will lead to a succesful mux but some part of your vts05 may be missing audio)..

Yeah, very strange.. I have no idea what happened there. I am still getting incorrect bitrates from DIF4U but I demuxed by PGC. Things are acting normally now I think I just may have repaired the incorrect one or something.
Does it need to be done by VOBID? I forget how to tell. Been quite a while since I've backed up a DVD, was using old versions of everything, so I updated it all and just kind of hoped I wouldn't run into any snags.

actually I think it was just a glitch that dif4u picked vobid.. i didnt notice until after dif4u was done and didnt have time to run it again (i set it up right b4 bed) . i would have done by pgc otherwise. the main issue was the audio which just happens sometimes.. delay cut will put an end to that.
