Hi

I have had problems with Ifoedit before but these were mainly when I wanted to DVD Play a title to check it was OK before burning. What would happen was that after using certain programs that use DVD files, mainly DVD2AVI the playback would have no video, just a blank screen with audio playing.

I am not very technical but I am assuming it was a filter issue, after a reboot the title would always play properly.

Now though whenever I try to play any title, not even one I have re-encoded, but one I have just ripped, the program crashes completely.

I also got a message to the effect of "There's something wrong. The end sector does not match the file size" or something on the first time I used GET VTS SECTORS after re-installing.

These 2 things have only been an issue since a recent format and install of everything from new. I have re-installed everything I always used before except for maybe a newer version of Direct X.

Could this be it as I am planning on uninstalling it and going for 8.1 as I am on XP.

I have tried the BAT file elsewhere on the forum for unregging InstantCopy filters, no luck.

Could someone please help or is there an alternative to Ifoedit for checking a DVD structure is sound before burning as Ifoedit was brilliant for this function alone, although obviously it has many more, I want it back! :(

What would happen was that after using certain programs that use DVD files, mainly DVD2AVI the playback would have no video, just a blank screen with audio playing. It's probably since IfoEdit is using a wrong or conflicting video codec. Maybe you have installed something recently? Read this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=581121#post581121) on how to find out what you are using. It uses IfoEdit 0.96. Can you do a capture of your codecs and post them? Also, compare codecs before and after using DVD2AVI to see for any changes.

Anyways, personally, I find PowerDVD to be alot more reliable than IfoEdit. In fact, Ifoedit is using my PowerDVD codecs. Here is a relevant thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89671&highlight=elecard+2cool) for you to peruse through.

Hi again and thanks for the help so far 2COOL.

Here is what Ifoedit is saying I have in the way of codecs/(filters?)

DSoundRenderer
Video Mixing Renderer
ffdshow Audio Decoder
Line 21 Decoder2
Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder
DVD Navigator

I have just unregged Elecard so that should be gone, well maybe after the next reboot.

Am I missing something that I should have from the list?

I too like yourself think PowerDVD is good but it does not report the errors in a newly reconstructed DVD as Ifoedit does. Also, it's just plain bugging me now as to why it won't work. :scared:

I feel another format re-install coming on.

Thanks.

I'm not sure it's a codecs problem. In this case, IfoEdit displays a "stream failed to render" error message.

But you got a "There's something wrong. The end sector does not match the file size". This indicates clearly that something is wrong with the DVD you attempt to play. Try ripping another DVD with DVD Decrypter in File mode (and quit DVD43, AnyDVD or such things before!), and see if the problem occur again.

Hi,

I did another DVD no probs.

In fact I did the same DVD - House Of The Dead - and did the VTS Sectors etc with Ifoupdate instead and then used PGCEdit and it was fine. It did not play when I went ahead and burned it after using Ifoedit.

I am thinking it is something very basic that I am missing as I never use anything new, only updated versions of same programs for my DVDs.

Does Ifoedit use anything other than DirectX (got latest version) that I may need.

Oh, and I don't use DVD43 or AnyDVD etc so that is not an issue with my original or the file size problem.

Thanks.
