Issue with Burning Feature

First off...thanks for the burning feature in 0.6.0!!! Awesome.

However, with my LG 4163b, the burner automatically sets the bit type to DVD-ROM for +R DL. This works with NERO, Copy2DVD, etc....perfect. You can override this if you like though, but why would you? So what is the problem? Well the burn with DVD Decryptor (via the PGCEdit burn feature) changed the booktype to +R DL from the 4163b's automatic setting of DVD-ROM...this should not happen. In the interface can the feature be added to ensure that the proper bit type be set as this is all automated?

It's not possible to pass the bitsetting to DVD Decrypter. So, it cannot be included in the PgcEdit's GUI.
But you should be able to do that in DVDD directly (menu Tools -> Drive -> Change Book Type.)
I have burned some DL+Rs with PgcEdit, DVDD and my Nec burner, and the booktype was correctly set to DVD-ROM (which is the default for DL+Rs anyway in a Nec drive.)
I suppose that it should work with your LG, too.

I have a 4163B as well, and it's no hassle. If you set it once it will stay till you turn your machine off.

too bad you can't set DVDD to do it via PGCEdit....but this should be a warning to those "lazy" like me....I never bothered to check what DVDD was doing...both Nero and Copy2DVD set it so you have no worries....but got to ensure with DVDD that bitsetting is correct BEFORE you burn, at least with my 4163b

Well, it's the first time I heard of a burner that is not able to remember his booktype settings. Maybe I will add a message somewhere, but IMHO it's not the job of the burning program to set the booktype: it should be set before the burn anyway, directly in the burner hardware (except for DVD+-RW).

I agree it is not the job, but with Nero and others making sure DVD-ROM is set for you you are bound to get others posting here at some point (as the PGCEdit burning feature gets more "press"). A message somewhere within PGCEdit will help to ensure you do not address this multiple times in this forum. Again thanks for the prog!!!!

My Pioneer 109 does the bitsetting for DL+R automatically. It is done that way in DVD Decrypter (just done my first two) and Nero. I haven't done it with Pgcedit yet.
