Hello to all, I am beginning to convert files from satellite in format mpg, now I would want to know, having the file of the satellite that has the bitrate of 3000 Kbps, converting it in mpg can i increase the bitrate to 4000 or 5000 also knowing that the dimension of the final file increases. If the quality of the image is improved or having one (low bitrate in input) this it only introduces noise on the images? Thanks.

That satellite signal is most likely already MPEG-2. You won't gain anything by taking that stream and reencoding it at a higher bitrate (in fact, it's possible you can introduce more compression artifacts unless you go quite high). I recommend you just keep it in it's original format (converting it to .mpg if it's a .ts or .tp). If you do have to reencode for some reason, however, then you should increase the bitrate somewhat to help mitigate the additional compression artifacts.
