Bitstream unpacking?

Does any old and experienced person know whether there is any method of checking Xvid parameters used during encoding?

I made this nice Minority Report copy some time ago and can't remember whether I used packed bitstream and/or other options.

Why would I want to know this? The playback seems to be a bit jerky when there is a steady movement or panning, yet I cannot find the cause. The player (MPC 6.4.8.3) uses Xvid an not ffdshow, and yet I don't like the result sometimes (although most of the time the playback is OK - I'm certain, because I've seen what ffdshow can do to a movie). I thought perhaps it is caused by packed bitstream. If so, can it be "removed"? Packed bitstream is just a different bit order, so it should be possible to rearrange it, shouldn't it?

The copy is really great, so if it would only be possible to fix the occasional jerkyness.

P.S. It's played on Barton 3000, 500 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9000 64MB

i heard/read that mpeg4 modifier can do that

I downloaded it to find out that I did not use packed bitstream, but I used 3-warp point GMC and the QPel.

Could this be the cause?

P.S. I also used Matroska, Ogg Vorbis, and the file has 2.1 GB

uhm... try demuxing the video and place it in an avi file then watch it
if it does not "jerks" then ensure you have the latest matroska and vorbis filters.

It's not Xvid, that's for sure.

I disabled the audio stream and made three mute 700 MB avi files - the jerkyness was completely gone. When I found out that for Ogg there is nothing more recent than DS0995 (which I already had), I downloaded the Matroska Pack 1.1.1 played the original 2GB mkv/Ogg file and ... it helped.

But then I remembered I had a similiar problem with a Koyaanisquatsi file (avi, 1,5 GB, Divix 4 :), MP3). I played it and ... nothing changed - it's still jerky when in slow, steady movement.

So they are two unrelated cases with just similiar symptoms?
