Hi
Nice new release :)
Is BatchIfoUpdate also not required if I use Scenarist?

BatchIfoUPdate is still required if you use Scenarist..

I'll probably add that feature to the Scenarist side as well but it will need more options to

Pike007

Okay, some more testing...

I have these 3 audio tracks in a Vobid Demux:

1)English-80
2)French-81
3)English-82

When I uncheck the 2nd track (french) in DIFU, and import this into Scenaid (1.7.0.2), it apparently imports track 1 properly, leaves 1 line empty, and then imports the 3rd audio track (This is when I'm checking the audio tracks preview window right under the video preview area). This only happened when I did a Vobid Demux using DIFU 1.4.7.0

A "Dummy" audio track is not being created when it is compiled in either Scenarist or Muxman. In this case, the audio is imported into scenarist as:

1)English-80
2)English-82

I tried 2 different movies with Vobid Demux and this occured for both. I tried a pgc demux on one of these movies (just for a test) and it did insert a "Dummy" audio track for the french stream 81. Maybe someone else could do a vobid demux to verify this as well?

I have some questions as well which I hope someone could answer:

-In the Audio options area under Add Silence to Vobid demux and pgc demux, I should always leave these checked, right? Is there any time they should not be checked?

-I use DIFU 1.4.7.0 with Dvd2avidg and I wanted to know if Scenaid's DgIndex should be used instead.

-I've been having a problem with "King Arthur" at the Muxman stage during a pgc Demux. I would keep getting an error "Video_TS.ifo could not be... error during mux" or something similar on a pgc demux. When I did a Vobid demux and using Muxman again, it worked ok. I'm guessing Muxman failed because I didn't choose the right demux. Is this a possible scenario?

I'm not sure how to copy and paste the ifo in ifoedit otherwise I'd post it as sometimes I have a hard time telling if a DVD should be Vobid or pgc demux. It would be nice if this was somehow automatic (I guess this would be a DIFU thing and the whole process may not be possible at all)

Thanks D3s7

by default, there is no audio "dummied" in a vobid demux.. this is by design as you could get errors (with scenarist at least) if you try... there is an option to "force" audio dummy in a vobid demux under the "Audio options"

to answer your other questions:

1) That option isn't needed really at all for PGC demux (i've only saw it one time where it was) and isn't needed for muxman at all... this is really a scenarist only thing

2) DGIndex is actually just a newer version of DVD2AVI (dg) which more accuratly decodes the frames and can result in a more accurate frame count initially - if the movie has angles or is demuxed by vobid, i recommend it

3) Doubtful that demux type was the issue... if you run into that problemk, it means muxman failed for some reason.. in which case send me the .mxp file and the muxman.log which should be in the Scenaid directory under your demux directory

jel

okay, well ... i am sure d3s7 will chime in with anything i have missed (or gotten wrong for that matter :D)

generally, you cannot dummy audio for a vobid demux as as it prevents seamless connections between vobids.
there is an option in scenaid to do this but to be honest i never asked d3s7 exactly what this function does ..
anyway, from what i can tell, the muxman approach is what i have used in the past to remove audio streams from a vobid demux, modifying the .ifos after the update step to assign the audio streams correctly.

'add silence ...' to vobid demux, imo, should always be checked, as it allows seamless connections between vobids ... adding silence to pgc demux is not usually necessary but apart from th eadditional time taken to perform this step, it certainly wouldnt cause any harm ...

personally i would always use DGIndex, particularly with vobid demux as it fixes many issues concerned with frame loss etc.

dif4u *should* always select vobid demux WHEN required.

as for posting the .ifo, i explain how here:

I was wondering if you would include the sceniad.chm file in future releases which describe some of the options, because currently theres a start menu link for ScenAid Help File, but the file itself doesnt exist. I'm using 1.7.0.2.

Using MuxMan 1.5i or 1.6ph in ScenAid 1.7.0.2 with options:

MuxMan
Use SUP files
MuxMan automation
Auto update IFO / move menu files

Causes the resulting DVD size to not be dividable by 2048 ... Nero throws a warning and the DVD isnt recognized by my player.

When turning off the Auto update IFO / move menu files option, and using BatchIFOUpdate instead, the resulting file size is ok, no warning from Nero, and the DVD plays fine

D3s7

i need to see the ifo's then... the scenaid updated ones, original ones and the batchupdated ones

Pike007
3rd August 2005, 03:01
I've also had problems with the burned DVD playing on my system. The DVD plays fine with ifoedit or powerdvd on my computer without any problems but as soon as I put it in my standalone player, it would freeze at the beginning or just not play. I would get an error stating "This disc cannot be played, please check the disc".

After reading Oruku Saki's post :) I tried disabling the "auto update IFO" under muxman and did it manually with Batchifoupdate. The DVD now plays on my standalone.

Before this test I tried the same assets from the DVD with Muxman and Scenarist and Muxman method would not produce a working DVD whereas Scenarist did. This makes sense as "auto update ifo" is not used with Scenarist. I never thought of disabling the "autoupdate ifo" and manually using batchifoupdate. I've actually tried quite a few DVD's and none of them would play on my standalone but played fine on my computer  . I never noticed a post about a non-playable DVD, so I've been racking my brain re-testing all combinations or different movies as I figured there must be something wrong with my files. I will test some more without auto update ifo on. I think this is something you should look at D3s7 as it fixed my problem.

D3s7, I sent some files to you last week about Muxman not muxing any files on one DVD and I'm not sure you received them. Please let me know if you didn't get them. Thanks

D3s7

anyone who'se having problems w/ the auto muxman update routine, I need to see the ifo's from the autoupdate as well as batchifoupdates (and the original which would be the .bak from batchifo or in the Scenaid/IFOBak dir from automated)

Thanks for the new release.

I don't dare to ask already any more... but I have seen an error message in scenaid if the muxman script is prepared.

** Couldn't find proper muxman command for Commands : JumpVTS_PTT ptt_1 @ vts_ttn_11
** Couldn't find proper muxman command for Commands : JumpVTS_PTT ptt_1 @ vts_ttn_10

I have looked at the ScenAid.log and something is mixed up, if I compare it with the original commands.

If you have a little time...would you like to look at the relevant files?

D3s7,
I've tried 3 different DVD's (all in a row) and all 3 show the "shifted menu buttons" for my menus. I'm using Muxman 0.16 ph. I noticed that these downloads were taken out of the downloads section at mpucoder's site. I will try the same movie again with latest 0.15 version.

Is version 15 the most stable and should this be used (even if a ver 16 is available)?

D3s7
11th August 2005, 00:08

Is there anyway to to tell scenaid 1.7.0.4 which assets to calcualte as MAIN and which as EXTRA.

There is a drop down main, but it does not allow you to set certain assets as MAIN or EXTRA, like in DIF4U.

And also does scenaid just use the biggest asset as the MAIN and the rest as EXTRA?

Thanks

jel
12th August 2005, 06:46
at present, scenaid simply selects the largest asset as the main.

if you manually select an asset as a main, all other assets will default to extras.

so, no at this time, you cannot use scenaid to select multiple mains for bitrate calcs, although i believe d3s7 is planning to implement this.
