View Full Version : In The Mood For Love R1 - Rebuilding stage alters aspect ratio in Movie-only mode

Hi, I've had some problems with the last few versions of DVD-RB and this movie in Movie-Only mode. Note that Blank Extras or Slideshow Extras work fine. The menus in this Criterion movie are quite large, taking up around 700mb, so I need Movie-only.

I have narrowed the problem down to the rebuilding stage because the encoded .m2v files have the right aspect ratio. I struggled and struggled to find out the cause of the problem, and in the course of my research found that there were two pieces of the movie after the credits that were pitch black, and only took up several megabytes each. They were, also, in a 4:3 aspect ratio as opposed to the 16:9 for the movie. So, hoping to just get rid of those pieces, I edited the .ini and removed any mention of those last two pieces (the movie went up to 27 now instead of 29.)

I rebuilt the movie again, and LO AND BEHOLD!! It was perfect, the aspect ratio was fixed and the movie looked great.

BUT, I loaded it up into Nero, and the rebuilt files are WAY too big, at around 5.3gb.

So, does anyone know what to do with this? There are no extras and menus to reduce the size, and I can't use VOBlanker because these two scenes are embedded into the main movie.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

What encoder are you using?

What OS are you using?
Have you tried using a different Matrix for a lower overall bitrate that will fit a DVD-5?
Is a DL-DVD an option?
Have you changed the TargetSectors in the Rebuilder.ini ?

Regards,:)

I tried HC 0.14, 0.15 and CCE 2.70, and they all had the same problem.

I'm trying to get to the cause of the actual problem, in that DVD Rebuilder seems to rebuild the whole movie corresponding to the aspect ratio of only the last .avs file.

I will try with the lower matrix, but that still wouldn't explain the problem. It seems more like a bug than anything else.

If you do the Whole DVD, the change in the aspect ratio happens?
If NO, you can try shrinking the menus:
- Use Menushrink
- Use DVDShrink, compressing only the menu, movie in "No Compression"
