Ripping with AnyDVD

Ok, I havent purchased AnyDVD yet (RIP DVDdecrypter :( ), but is ripping with anydvd simply a matter of cut and paste of the dvd content to the hardrive?

That's a negative. AnyDVD just sort of sits there in your systray and, while running, makes your computer see any DVDs in your drives as being without any protection or region coding. You still need ripping software (i.e. DVD Decrypter).

It's great software, though. But still, unless you're ripping some very specific like the few recent Arcoss (whatever) encrypted Sony titles, DVD Decrypter is still all you need.

-absI'm confused here or I'm missing something. I run AnyDVD and I've in the past just copied the VIDEO_TS folder of a protected DVD to my harddrive. The result was unencrypted and region-free "ripped" DVD ... just as if I had ripped it with DVDDecryptor.

What I like to do is to use VobBlanker in conjuction with AnyDVD as my DVD ripper. The advantage of this is that I can blank out the FBI warning, movie studios intro and other such titles in the process of ripping the DVD from my optical drive to my harddrive.

And a neat step is that during this process I believe it also blanks unreferenced material at the same time it rips. If I'm not mistaken.

OK, so yes, it will work fine for file mode (which is what I use), but not for other modes. OK, that makes more sense

but while anydvd is running you can not only copy with explorer but also demux, for example with dvddecrypter or vstrip
