Coach Carter problems with Scenarist

I have tried to back this movie up several times but I keep getting the same error in Scenarist. I am using DIF -> Scenaid -> Batchencodem2v -> Scenarist. Here is the error that Scenarist is giving me:

Error Line21 at 00:13:46:07 or 00:00:00:00 is across the cell boundary(cell #2 and #3).
Error Can not read a GOP at 00:19:40:10 (try to read = 10108 B; read done = 10104 B).
Error Please check the video stream (D:\carter\Scenaid\NewD2V\VTS__06_P01.I-BFF.4~3_1.nopull.mpv) or the .vif file or re-generate them.
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (hghg.scn-VTS06_1_Track_t.vob).
Error Can't read the input stream.

Any idea as to how to fix this? I gave me the same error when creating VTS 3, so I just unchecked VTS 3 in DIF as it was only 224 MB. But VTS 6 (above) is over 1 gig, so I need to reencode it. Thanks.

see if deleting the .vif helps ( while scenarist is closed) then reload the scenario and compile.

Trahald, it worked! Now, why did it work? I would like to understand why, by simply deleting the .vif file, Scenarist didn't error out. Thanks again.

The .vif file is just a data file containing all the offsets to the frame pictures in the actual video file. If this doesn't match the actual video exactly, then scenarist will complain. I presume the .vif was created by scenaid/revpulldown. By deleting it the reloading scenarist, it must create a new .vif file itself.

I suggest recreating again with sceanid so that we can see the faulty .vif, and then redo with scenarist. Post the 2 .vif files. Hopefully we might be able to find out what went wrong.

btw.. you may want to start using batchccews.. it interfaces with revpulldown better. id rather not put time into fixing batchencode (the wrong command line sent to revpulldown could cause a bad vif)

Sorry, fellas, I already deleted all the files after Scenarist complied correctly. I will run it through again, let it reencode again, and recompile with Scenarist again and post the 2 .vif files and the batchencode.log file. (It's gonna take awhile to reencode though.)

Trahald, I had been using batchcce for a long time, but then came across a movie that needed batchencodem2v (along with dgdecode.) I was told that batchencodem2v does a better and more accurate job than batchcce. Is that wrong? Thanks.

Ok, I have reencoded again and I have the 2 .vif files. I don't know exactly how you want me to post them though. I tried opening them in Notepad but its just garbage text in them. How should I post them so that we might compare them to figure out what went wrong?

ok... i figured it was a -nooutput type file.. i'll need to see the .vifs. please free up some private message space so i can send instructions, hoops.

as far as batchcce goes.. alot of the adjustments i implemented into batch encode , i have put into batchccews.. just make sure you get the latest version.

Ok.. i had a feeling this is what it is.. the vif files are identical except for the last few bytes.. thats because -removesequenceendcodes are used with -nooutput. those cant be used together cause removeendcodes adds 4 bytes to the 'virtual' mpv file that the vif is made from so the last pointer in the vif will be wrong. i changed revpulldown to not allow this conflict of commands a while ago and its been in numenu4u for a while.. its also already in the pulldown.cpp i modified that compiles into batchccews. so either copy the revpulldown.exe (0.99l) from numenu4u (if you have the newer full installs) into the batchencode install directory or just use latest batchccews (which id prefer.. i dont plan on releasing anymore versions of batchencode).. Ok, thanks. I will just use the latest batchccews. Is the latest 0916f unstable? Also, are there any special settings I need to do if I'm using CCE 2.67?

yep.. latest is 0916f

uhmm.. nothing really.. batchccews supported 2.67 before i got to it. just like usual make sure eclcce and it support files are in the batchccews install dir. (2.67 requires eclcce). if you upgrade to cce 2.70+ then use the option in settings to set your own direct to cce executable path.

Trahald, what about using DGDecode along with batchccews? I was also told that I should use DGDecode all the time, is this right? (BTW, what exactly does dgdecode do or fix?) Thanks.

dgdecode is supposed to no drop any frames at all, whereas dvd2avi does. If you're using scenaid to create then there is an option to recompile the d2v files with dgindex (dgdecode is the frameserver), if you have it installed in the scenaid install folder. NB you need both dgindex.exe & dgdecode.dll
