View Full Version : BeSplit - splitting low bit rate VBR MP3 - Garbled

I know you all hate ignorant questions, so I promise I spent the last 15 minutes searching through everything the forums found me on MP3 and BeSplit....

I have an audio book on tape that I want to play on my MP3 player. No, problem, I captured the audio on my computer and converted to low bitrate MP3 (VBR, minimum 16kbit, usually hovers around 20kbit). 11KHz, mono sound.

The low bitrate is perfectly fine for spoken words.

However, since each tape is 50minutes per side, the file is large and I want to cut it into 3:00 segments.

I used BeSplit and it kept giving SYNC errors every 56 frames. The resulting file has gaps, starts and stops every second or so. (I assume corresponding to the 56 frames BeSplit complained about.)

Anyone know what may be causing the problem and what I can do to fix it/work around it?

Thanks in advance,
JHutch

Maybe Foobar's (www.foobar2000.com) Fix MP3 header option will fix it. Or maybe you should try another mp3 splitter.
