DVD Question

I need to buy DVD copying software. I am currently undecided between
DVDFab Platinum (http://www.deprice.com/dvdfabplatinum.htm) (it's more expensive but removes all restrictions so I don't have to by additional software) and
dvdSanta (http://www.deprice.com/dvdsanta2.htm) because it's only twenty bucks and can do lot's of extras, like creating DVD photo slideshows, capturing video, converting , etc. No restriction removal tools, though.
Anyone here familiar with DVDFab or dvdSanta? Which one should I pick? Or should I look for something entirely different?

Why buy software? There's loads of free software on the net, you just need to look for it.

Type "dvd copying" in Google, and feast your eyes on the results. Doom9 should be near the top.

Is there any reason why you need to copy it? Backing up I can understand, and this is why the forum is here. Have a look around. Look through the guides. Make sure you know the terminoligy and understand how to do an effective backup.

But if it's piracy this forum ain't gonna get you anywhere. Sorry. :readrules:

Ultimately you NEED to ask yourself if you really need it.

For me, I just convert things into a VERY simple DVD. For example, I record documentation, then i just let a tool like dvdauthor or whatever convert this
into a simple DVD which, when inserted, just starts to play (without a silly menu annoying me where i need to click click click through).

So if you need the extras seriously, then buy it.
If you want to get rid of something, and thus need it, get it.
Otherwise, dont.

You dont need to buy these actually, there are alternative ways like autoGK Gordian Knot, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, FairUse Wizard, Mplayer/Mencoder, Transcode suite and many more. It just takes a little time to learn them and get used to them, but when you really need it, its worth to invest the time to learn them once, and be done with it.

Costly tools like Tmpgenc or this DVD Tmpg thingy, and others, can surely make your life easier. Most offer a free test phase, try them out, then decide later if you think its worth to pay it.
All together its really entirely up to you how much money you WANT to invest :)

Please do NOT assume the worst case scenario of someone who comes here and posts a question. I cant read in his post that he was looking for what YOU are suggesting. Assuming can lead to wrong assumptions which make the asker feel unhappy in being misunderstood, and you someone being error prone with a helpful reply.
