Pass commands through to DVD-RB?

I was just wondering if there was a way to pass dos commands through to DVD-RB. I realize the whole .bat file thing but I was wondering if I could put something in the .bat file to go ahead and start the encoding of the last saved source dvd. I have a program that will run a .bat file at a certain time of day and I wanted to be able to have DVD-RB start up and do it's job all by itself so that if I am doing something when I go to bed I can set it to come on in a few hours. Just wondering.
