Im trying to do a DVD9 to DVD5 out of Lord Of The Rings Special Extended Edition. But a problem have come up that i havnt dealed with before, The Main VTS has two PGCs, dvd decrypter tells me that the size of them are exactlly the same, 6 510 862 KB, the total size of the dvd is 7 924 304 KB. That means that in some way they are using the same audio/video/subtitle streams, and my question is simple, how do i author the dvd in that kind of way (i usually use Scenarist to author the dvds), if i look at the streams i see that PGC2 has a couple more subtitles then PGC1, but if i check the stream Id i think that they are just hidden in PGC1 by any reason.

PGC1:

0x20 - English
0x25 - Dansk
0x26 - Svenska
0x27 - Suomi
0x28 - Islenska
0x29 - Norsk
0x2A - English

PGC2:

0x20 - English
0x21 - English
0x22 - English
0x23 - English
0x24 - English
0x25 - Dansk
0x26 - Svenska
0x27 - Suomi
0x28 - Islenska
0x29 - Norsk

So my main question is like this : How do i author the 2 pgc so they are sharring the same streams?

(have searched the forum, but didnt know exactlly what to have as search terms.)

Sharing resources is one of the strong points of the DVD structure, and not rare at all. Probably the two PGCs are for different display modes, eg widescreen and panscan ("formatted to fit screen"). The Big3 programs handle this for you. But if you are doing your own, do the same as you would for a single PGC. Then create a second title and drag the same track onto it. Use the properties editor to make one PGC widescreen and the other either LB or PS depending on what the video is.

I tried the big3, but it ripped them seperate : 2x6 510 862 KB
But it maybe does that just in the ripping process, and skip one stream in the authoring?

Another question to this topic, ifoedit says that the videostream is 16:9 letterboxed. so one Widescreen and the other Letterboxed then i would guess? does it mather witch PGC is what? (beacuse i cant see that ifoedit would give me that info)

I may have given some bad info (it's a holiday here). PGCs don't have display modes, but the PGC to play can be chosen by the current display mode. In either PGC the same video plays. But it is rare to have a seperate PGC for each display mode.

Seeing as this is an SE, and PGC1 has a subset of PGC2's subs it is more likely that PGC2 is the title with extras seamlessly branched.
Are the run times the same?
Is there an option to watch the movie with extras enabled? (this version will usually have some icon that appears onscreen when an extra can be viewed)

Yeah the times are on the second the same.
I havnt seen that kind of extra icon, so i doubt there is.
What i know the only extra on this SE is the 5 commentary tracks, and that the movie is 20 minutes longer then the original (a couple of more scenes). And as i said in the first post, they are both the same size, on the byte.
