DVD Shrink Problem

I come back to the old "out of memory" question.

I am trying to burn a movie I created with DVDStyler (=DVDauthor). Because the movie will not fit on a DVD I am trying to use DVD Shrink to compress it slightly.

DVD shrink opens the DVD ISO I created with no trouble, and peroforms the initial analysis. However, when I press the Analysis button, I get the message "out of memory The parameter is incorrect". This is an immediate response, and no processing was performed. I have 512 MB memory and enough space on my HD. I am using XP. I also tried this on a very small piece of video (68 MB) that I made into a DVD using the same process. So, this is not really a memory (or resources) problem.
I had no luck with mock striping.

Anybody tried this before? Any luck?

Assistance would be much appreciated (e.g. if people are using a different process to shrink movies they authored to fit onto a DVD).

1) All my actions are legal. I recorded a TV program for my personal use and would like to save it to DVD. This is completely equivalent to recording a TV program to VCR video.

2) The question applies in the same way to movies I created with my DV camera.

3) I adjusted the original posting as to not offend the community with legal

Well, I'm not a moderator and certainly it's not in my hands to decide if that is right or not... I just wanted to inform you before you get into troubles. ;)
However, you are trying to make the analysis directly from the ISO file, is that right? I'd try to do it from the files, and see what happen.

I have just used DVDFab to backup the movie "CLOSER" to my HDD but when I tried to burn it using DVD Shrink I get the error "DVD Shrink can't continue, Out of Memory, Not enough Storage" Can anyone help me to fix this? or is there any other Prog that will let me do this?

I have no idea who you are but you have just prevented me from going insane! Thank you so much. I am no stranger to using DVDD or Shrink but let me tell you that this new Arccos had me driven mad. Even more so because I could get the movie to my HDD but no further. (Along came CHETWOOD)
As I am really a Newbie to all of this I found it A bit difficult to follow some of the instructions I was being pointed towards and was just about to give into my inability and give up when I received your post (what a lifeline). So I could not believe it when I saw the option to use Magic DVD Ripper and thought I had it cracked but really hit a downer when I discovered Shrink would not read the Video_VTS file either (I really thought it was a no go at that stage) Thin I spotted from your direction the Prog called IFO Edit so I decided to give it one more try, and guess what Chetwood? IT WORKED PERFECTLY! :p I very much hope we get to communicate again as my appetite for all of this is really growing. It was such a satisfying feeling to have achieved the successful burn. I guess "There's no gain without pain" Thank you again.

No biggy. I'm just trying to make ppl check the right places first. We've taken a lot of time to assemble all this info on the DVD Shrink forums so in most cases the answers are already there.

There is also a beta version of Magic DVD Ripper that solves the problem with the .VOB file problem in DVD Shrink. If you use that version - you don't need to use IFoEdit after the Magic rip - just open up the files in DVD Shrink.

I have not had any problem DVD SHRINK but I am starting to have problems. I start the DVD shrink process and when it asked me to insert my blank disc it starts to burn and gets about 10 min. into burning and stops. I have thrown out DVD's that are half burned.

Illegal disc

Try a different make of disk. Even though you are using the same brand of disk, name brand companies like say TDK use several different manufacturers.
They outsource to other companies. TDK uses CMC Magnetics, Ty Yuden, and of course their own TDK at this time. They may change to other manufacturers in the future.

Use this free tool DVD Identifier Here (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) to determine a disk that will work for you.

Thanks FEEDBACK for all your help and good info. I have a bad drive. I am using a Sony DVD drive and I went to there web site and saw a DVD drive checker. It did find a problem and I also called Sony's support. They said it sounds like a bad drive. The drive is only 3 months old. I guess I have been burning alot......anyway Sony said they will replace the drive...

I hope this fixes my problem I realy like DVDshrink...

This checker isonly for Sony DVD burners.

Hope this helps. So far SOny has not helped me. They want to keep testing the drive. I have only had the drive for about 3 months.

Problem solved DVDShrink out of Memory Error
A couple weeks ago I started having the same error message when I was backing up with DVDshrink, I have been using this program for a few years now. Aside from the occasional can't decrypt with DVDshrink it has worked just fine, but since early 2011 it's been more often that I’ve run across the new CSS so about 30 days ago I started using Anydvd to rip my movies to backup. I have 3 very high performance PC's, and have Mirror Dvdshrink & Anydvd on all system, the first error I got was on my Windows 7 PC quad core. I tried uninstalling Dvdshrink and reinstalling it which worked for a couple backup jobs so I switched to another PC with XP thinking it was incompatibility problems with windows 7 and dvdshrink ((NOT)). It also happened on the other systems. I thought this very odd because never ever have I had this problem before, so I started to back step what I have done in the past few weeks, maybe it was windows updates, maybe it was Norton.
So I backed out a few updates which had no effect on the problem, then I started thinking maybe another program was causing an incompatibility issue. I uninstalled DVD Decrypter, no change. I then thought to myself the only new program I have installed in the past month was AnyDvd so I uninstalled AnyDvd and (( Problem Solved )). I removed AnyDvd from all my PC's and problem solved on those as well, It must be a registery problem when both DVDSHRINK & ANYDVD are installed on the same systems. I have used DVDSHrink for 8 days now and no issues at all with it. If you have Anydvd on your system along with Dvdshrink remove either one and problem is SOLVED. If you like dvdshrink like I do then if you get and install DVDfab 8 QT which is also available in a free version, they work fine together.
