clear history in media player classic

I have noticed that media player classic keeps track on the files you have played recently when you open a file. Does anyone know how to clear this history? I have tried searching both in "Documents and Settings" and the registry.

Seems you're looking too far afield. Go into the options and under Player section there is a list of tick boxes down the right hand side. Third from the bottom is "Keep history of recently opened files". Untick this, click Apply and whalla - history gone.

If you only want history cleared but future files retained in history, then just untick, click apply, then retick, and OK. This will clear the history by turning it off but then turn it back on.

I've tried what zacoz suggests, to no avail - when I go File>Open, there's a drop down list of files I've opened in the past. No matter how many times I click or unclick the history option, the list is still there. I even deleted mplayerc.exe and installed a newer version (6.4.9.0) and the history list is STILL there.

Any ideas?

If you have an .ini, it'll be in there. If not, it'll be in the registry at [HKCU\Software\Gabest\Media Player Classic\Recent File List].

if you are using casimir's build v1.0.9.0, it will always save file history because of the "remember file position" function, even if the option is disabled.

How do I know if I have an .ini for mpc?

So, no .ini, found the history in the registry. Deleted the history files.

Ran mpc, went to file>open, and YAY! No history. :-)

Clicked on 'browse' to find a file to open, and the program locked up. BOO! :-(

Any ideas? I didn't delete the file in the registry called "default" but I deleted all the others, which all had values of paths to files I'd opened.

try and go to the registry to see if file history is there after you closed mpc. it will porbably be there again...
