I've just received DVD Rebuilder v1.00 RC1. Today its a historical day !!!!
My first DVD test it's U2 Elevation Tour Disk 2, 7.83 Gb with multiangles.
@Jdobbs, just a question,
all ILVU sections are reduced by the same size? I mean, I'd like to define a prefrered angle so the "reduce size from extras" take space of the other angles.
Anyway, thank you very much for your hard work, I guess this opens a new age in one click backup tools.

This has turned a bad evening into a very good one.
Just got my butt kicked in Poker, but I don't care cause I feel like a winner.
Thanks,

Just received it as well :) I am pretty excited. Not sure which DVD to try out first. Thank you for all the hard work you have done on this great program jdobbs.
for those like me, who miss the VB library,
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/images/lib/MSCOMCTL.OCX
copy to windows/support32/
and run
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
PC love the teck skin
just need to make same look to everything not only the front end, but menus, pop up menus, and settings dialogs. and that ugly blue in text boxes ;)
really cool.

You can also download it from:
http://www.jdobbs.net/downloads/mscomctl.ocx
It seems that file isn't installed with Windows 100% of the time... You can just copy the file to the DVD-RB directory and it will work fine. I'll add it to the package for the next RC release.

I'll change the text boxes to match the background. I've been staring at this interface for so long I don't even notice it any more.

Thanks jdobbs. Maybe this will solve my extras problem that I have had with Toy Story 2 and the blocking I got with Beauty and the Beast. Get some sleep. Your labor is greatly appreciated, but I'll bet you still kept long hours despite everyone's encouragement to sleep.

I'm running The Abyss, R1, through it right now.
At first I thought I had a problem because I tried to preview one of the .avs after the Prepare stage and received a Mpeg2Source: cannot find source or obsolete .d2v error. It appears that DVD-RB extracts the source of IlVu segments to a seperate .VOB file just before encoding and then deletes the .VOB after that segement is finished encoding, presumably to save disc space. Just an FYI for beta testers.

Something old, Something new,
Something borrowed, Something blue
A very nice product that even newbies should be able to apreciate.

Thanks for the good work! Also love the new skin. Is the CCE OPV mode more accurate now, in terms of output size? On my test disc (which is still running), DVDRB seemed to do lots of smaller tests on the video. I frequently got slightly oversized discs in previous versions!

It's not included with plain Win2k or XP. It's installed with Office, Visual Studio, and other apps. See this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/dllhelp/
You can assume that any OCX will have the same issue.
That's what you get for trying to be fancy. Now where is CC support? ;-)
jdobbs
3rd July 2005, 12:34
I hate requiring add-on .OCX support but when I tried using straight .DLL calls for the TreeView it got hairy -- I tested this on what I thought was a clean Windows system and it had that .OCX already in the System32 directory...
I just got really behind on the ILVU support and had to put some of the other "to do's" on the back burner -- CC support was one of them.
[Added] Ahh... there it is... MSCOMCTL.OCX gets installed with Windows 2000 and XP Professional editions -- but not standard.
[Edited again] Hmm.. maybe that isn't true either...

I tried my first ILVU film and i got an error "Run-time error 6" Overflow
The film is Alien 3 Special Edition - Region 2 and has a lot of ILVU areas.
The error happens at 6,5 % and in the Progress area says that is Interleaving ILVU areas.
The DVD has no pre-processing. Iīm using CCE 2.70.02.01 and until now is the first error that i have.
I attach the screen of the error. Any opinion about what can be ?

just a small bug in the new interface
=========
All the audio is showing as English when it is actually Japanese. Using the old interfaces, it was showing correctly.

=========
All the audio is showing as English when it is actually Japanese. Using the old interfaces, it was showing correctly.Does it show correctly if you select "Rockas Original" skin as the interface? -- the reason I ask is because the actual routine for determining language hasn't changed... just the display.

For those who haven't downloaded yet, or those who would like to again, the MSCOMCTL.OCX issue is resolved. If you download now (or again) you will get a version that installs the Active X control with DVD-RB.

Arr... just installed 1.0RC1, the new interface updated fine, but now there is no BATCH MODE option in File :( , although I can see a greyed out Shutdown at Batch Completion option. Am I missing something or are you :D
EDIT: Sorry, just saw the Batch option in a new tab :)

You can also download it from:
http://www.jdobbs.net/downloads/mscomctl.ocx
It seems that file isn't installed with Windows 100% of the time... You can just copy the file to the DVD-RB directory and it will work fine. I'll add it to the package for the next RC release.
It installed for me i'm on XP

Skipped area on movie after rebuilding The Abyss (Interleaved video is present.) The movie has a theatrical and special edition version. Playing the DVDRB backup, the theatrical version skips about 17 seconds of audio/video in the beginning. The original DVD movie opens with the 20th Century logo with the sound of a sub's radar, then "The Abyss" in big blue letters. The end of the "Y" expands into blue and you see a sub moving through the water. In the DVDRB version the movie jumps to the where the end of the "Y" expands. A few seconds of video are missing, with the first scene in the DVDRB version being the captain of the sub saying "What the hell is it?"
Also, using the resume feature of PowerDVD, the video would shift between two unrelated scenes.
This movie was ripped with DVDDecryptor V 3.5.4.0 to an ISO image and mounted in Daemon Tools V3.47. I used the Rocas installer for previous version install of DVDRB Pro -- with RC1, I just copied the EXE and key file into the program folder. I've backed-up several movies with DVDRB without trouble -- except for The Abyss ;), and I consider my computer environment sound. I have not watched this backup in its entireity but skipping through the chapters, this is the only anomality I saw.
DVDRB settings: Main movie and extras only/One click mode.

Did a quick test with Metallica S&M DVD1 which has 5 Angles in 2 Songs. Encoded with hc encoder, the picture stands still when an angle ends and getīs switched back to normal (first) angle.. result fail :rolleyes:

Could you try it with another encoder just to be sure -- I haven't tested HC with ILVU -- there are some requirements that I may need to test.

@Muttlover
Is that an NTSC R1 version of The Abyss? If so I can test it.
@Easy123
Same question.
Interesting responses I'm getting -- as I did a lot of testing on ILVU sources including seamless branching and multiple angle (but all NTSC) and it worked on all of them. Of course on the other hand -- I've just added a couple of thousand additional lines of code, so I guess its reasonable to think there are going to be some things I missed.

I got a "Runtime error 5" on rebuilding phase with "THE GOONIES" pal.
I did it with CCE Basic 2.70.1.4 and now I'm going to retry with CCE-Sp 2.50 .
I will investigate then let you know !!!Is this an ILVU disc?

Yeah, it's the R1 NTSC, 2 Disc version. I also forgot to mention I used Ifoedit to remove the alternate audio streams, so that they could not be selectable at all, and also Voblanker for one of the annoying screens at the beginning. After searching for the buffer overflow error 3 it seems that pre processing such as Ifoedit and Voblanker can cause this error. What I am going to try, is to re-rip the dvd and use the blanker built into rebuilder (which I just noticed today :)) to remove the annoying screen. I will also have rebuilder remove the audio streams. Then if everything goes well and it is rebuilt, I will use Ifoedit to fully remove the audio streams from being selectable. I doubt it was Voblanker which messed it up since I have used it many times before I encoded with Rebuilder. The only time I have used Ifoedit was to remove the audio after Rebuilder was done, so I am betting Ifoedit is why the error occurred. Thank you for the help.

Is this an ILVU disc?
Talking about "The Goonies" - Pal version , yes it is. It has an option to watch the movie with the comment of the interpreters (the movie was firstly out in the 80's) and this version of the movie is interleaved with the movie itself (so we can see the movie fading and the studio appear , with those guys talking about their experience , just like the white rabbit on Matrix , you see , but with a bit more complex structure). Take into account that it doubles the disk size (earlier versions of RB was taking me at ~44% compression , now I can get ~79) . I'm not really interested on this feature , but I thought it is a good test-movie for the RC1 of RB1.00 so I decided to try the release on it firstly.
I'll copy-paste the rebuilder.log here later.

Love the new 1.0 interface JDobbs and TECK!!! An overhaul was long overdue.And RB is best thing since sliced bread. But if I can make just a small, or perhaps large, suggestion. Do one of two things with your options/settings selections.
1. Move everything from the Options menu and possibly the Mode menu, to a "Settings" menu option. Choosing this option will bring up a window with many tabs. An AVS tab to set AVS Settings, a CCE tab to set all the CCE specific settings, and so on. Also you could include a Mode tab to setup the mode you would like RB to run in. This is the harder suggestion.
2. The easier one would be to make it so when you click on a setting to make it active or inactive (checked or unchecked). At least make it so when you choose an option, the whole tree structure you have opened doesnt collapse so then you have to go all the way back through to get to the option that was right below the one you just chose. Know what Im saying? Its detaily kinda stuff I guess. But it would be cool to see number 1 implemented.
Have I mentioned how much I love this program? Thanks to JDobbs, and the many others who have contributed so much to the community.
Whoot!!! Thanks jdobbs for using my prototype! I see that FilipeAmadeuO likes it...

The new version really is excellent.
Let's put it this way... It's worth every support penny I paid jdobbs... :)
jdobbs, the green color in the folder areas, etc... hurt my eyes...
Make me happy please. :D:D

Would it be possible to add a semi-automatic option to the interface? Similar to the one in DVD Decrypter? It would also be great if the ISO name and label could be generated in a similar fashion.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v113/LoboParamilitary/semiauto.png
I think I agree about the blue -- it contrasts with the Teck skin. I'll change the text boxes to match the background. I've been staring at this interface for so long I don't even notice it any more.
Thanks guys. I'm excited that for once my work is noticed on the forums. :)

@jdobbs:
Metallica is RC2 PAL, with a bad bad NTSC -> PAL Conversion ;) But thatīs another Story. Just a Question what is it that the first File (VTS_01_1.VOB) after Rebuilding is only 800MB in Size? I mean itīs DVD compliant but it caught my Eye... *gg* Gonna test it with CCE one more time....

ILVU is not supposed to cross two files (from my understanding). So if the an ILVU block would force a file to be larger than it is supposed to be -- a new file is started. You'll see that on commercial discs as well (the Matrix for instance).
[Added] Interestingly enough, though, I found several commercial ILVU sources that do go across files... so I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding the requirement, or they are just ignoring it.

@jdobbs
Thanks a lot for this new version! :)
A few things which probably were mentioned before, but hey, there are so many new postings since yesterday. ;)
When you check/uncheck streams (audio/subs) and change the skin afterwards, the changes will not be taken over instead the streams are checked like you saved them in the setup menu.
I've made a ILVU test with Amelie from Montmartre PAL german version last night, CCE SP 2.70, One-Click Mode with shutdown.
Everything works fine, but when I restart RB today, my audio and sub settings weren't remember like in 0.93.2, again the streams stored in setup were marked.
When I try to change them, RB crashed with runtime error 9.
The workaround was to swap the skin (from Rockas to default), afterwards everything runs fine again. :confused:
